A solid budet 24 inch offering from Acer.
Acer K242HLd, 24 inch Monitor, 2 ms 100M:1 A 250 nits LED DVI w/HDCP Acer EcoDisplay In the box. -------------- The monitor panel, Stand base, Stand riser, Mains cable, DVI cable, Instructions. All come well packed. Assembly. -------------- This only thing you have to do is connect the stand riser to the baase, you will need a flat head screw driver for this. Switch on. -------------- Once connected to the mains and the computer I switched it all on. It goes through an energy saving screen while Windows boots. Initially I was presented with a very bright image and I have to go into the monitor set up to adjust the brightness and contrast to my liking. Picture quality is much better than my old Samsung 21.5 inch screen that is five years old. The text is sharp and the colours very good if a little subdued but I like this set up. Calibration. --------------- This is easy as the monitor has a simple adjustment menu and it is quite easy to customise the monitors picture to your own preferences. It is a nice monitor for photo editing and watching DVD's on. There is no colour or action lag which is great for the price point. Overall. ---------- For a budget monitor I am very impressed, in fact it was the cheapest 24 inch at the time of buying but still very good. I would say the build quality is above average for the price point. The stand height is not adjustable but that's no big deal for me. I would recommend this monitor to those needing a 24 inch on a tight budget.

Must-buy for computer users
I was a bit wary of this monitor at first. A 24 inch and at the same price as a 22 inch monitor? Well, I might just have lucked out when I was going through the warehouse deals here. Let's go through the details. Build quality: The stand is of an excellent quality. The arm itself is very chunky, and the base is wide enough for the monitor to feel secure on your desk. I doubt it's going to fall off any time soon. I'm picky about my viewing angle and it has had zero problems with being tilted up and down multiple times per day. Screen quality: I don't know anyone who cares about visual quality and uses the stock Windows settings. I went into the nVidia control panel and adjusted the digital vibrance to match my taste. I'm very impressed that it gets to a lively colour balance without blowing out colours. There have been no issues with 3D graphics whatsoever either in terms of screen tearing or anything like that. Conclusion: I'd give this 6 stars if I could. An outstanding screen so good that I already have two. £95 for a brand name 24 inch screen is a steal. If you ever see it going for less it's pretty much an essential purchase if you're in the market for a new screen. The OSD is simple and they were good enough to put a button per option instead of making it fiddly.

Cheap but decent value
I was initially expecting a monitor with an HDMI port, though it was mainly my fault that I got a version of this monitor (which usually does have one) with no HDMI. I bought an adapter cable for HDMI to DVI for £5, and managed to get the monitor to work fine when plugged into my laptop (which has a damaged screen). The monitor has a wide range of settings and a wide viewing angle, though the buttons all lack labels, which seems like rather an obvious thing to include. Also, for some reason, one of the 3 documents that comes with the screen is entirely in Turkish (as far as I can tell, it's safety information) the other 2 (warranty and usage guide) have multiple languages. Structurally the screen seems a little flimsy but put together well. It's pretty much what I expect from a cheap screen - it does what it needs to pretty well, and is good value for money. It probably won't last 5 years, but I don't need it to.

Great Monitor
This monitor is fantastic for just under £100, yes it doesn't have HDMI, but in my experience I have found monitors with HDMI a little more reliable, this on has VGA and DVI. I have been using it by VGA and the quality is great, much easier to look at than the monitor I had previously. Also really happy that it allows you to wall mount it, which I did the day after it arrived. The stand that comes with it is really easy to attach, but there's no obvious "click" to make you sure its in position.....it was just a bit of a pain to take off, I had to use a screwdriver to reach the clip to push the stand off. Overall its probably the best monitor I've ever purchased, it works well, looks great and you can have it set up in minutes!

Nice to have it in the office.
This is the high-quality monitor but extremely cheap and useful for office. I use 20 of them in the office for our staff. If you want something for home, like watch movies or game its ok but you should be looking for IPS this one is NT panel. IPS monitors or “In-Plane Switching” monitors, leverage liquid crystals aligned in parallel to produce rich colors. IPS panels are defined by the shifting patterns of their liquid crystals. These monitors were designed to overcome the limitations of TN panels. The liquid crystal's ability to shift horizontally creates better viewing angles. Like i said poor colours only suitable for Outlook, Word, and god knows what else.

Among the best budget monitors out there
Be reminded your paying £100 for a 24'' monitor. That's peanuts for a monitor this size. As usual a review is in relation to the cost. You can't compare it with a high spec monitor, for which you would pay 5 times more. The monitor quality is really good and resolution is a good 1920x1080 which is what you would want for a 24''. The only cons would be the stand which is flimsy and will not hold the monitor completely level but you will barely notice it anyway. Otherwise you cannot go wrong with this budget piece of kit.

A cheap basic monitor and this is reflected in the quality.
I needed a cheap second monitor which had to have a DVI input. This fits the bill. The overall quality is not good, it is made out of cheap plastic. The stand is very basic and it wobbles if touched. The screen can be tilted but that is all. No rotation, swivel or height adjustment. It has a DVI and VGA input, no HDMI or display port so cannot be used with most modern laptops without an adapter. The picture quality also reflects the price and is the settings are fiddly to adjust. I would not use it for any graphics application like editing photos. It does have one thing going for it though. It is very cheap. I paid around £80 for it which is good especially if you need a DVI input as most only have HDMI. It's perfectly usable as a second monitor for occasional use, more so if you need a 24" screen for less than £100.

A must-buy on a budget.
This Acer monitor is possibly one of the best things I have bought this year. It's the perfect size for my desk and I'm actually tempted to get another. Pros - Crisp, HD Display with not a single distinguishable pixel; great for gaming, editing, picture viewing and watching movies/videos. - Easy to set up and put together (There is one screw that comes with the display to screw the stand onto the backbone of the monitor, it can easily be screwed in with a knife or a screwdriver). - Clear buttons on front of monitor. - Variety of settings to change the look of the screen (i.e. colours, contrast etc.) - Screen has little to no glare. - Can be tilted to any viewing angle. Cons - Though it doesn't bother me much, the monitor stand seems flimsy; it will shake slightly if you're typing hard or move the desk it is on which could annoy some. - It only comes with a VGA cable and has no HDMI connection, but not a problem if you normally use VGA anyway. - The bezel of the monitor is a fingerprint magnet; it's a glossy plastic and will attract dust and dirt very quickly (straight out of the box it already started gathering dust. To conclude, I'd recommend this monitor to anyone not willing to dish out more than £150 and doesn't mind a few cons (the pros out-weigh the cons on this monitor anyway). Also for any gamers out there, this will make your games look magnificent (in 1080p); I play a lot of CS:GO and I found the performance in-game is much better with this monitor.
