Trumpeter 1:200 - USS BB-39 Arizona 1941

Wow what a kit, its big and takes some building but well worth it, apart from figures included being out of scale so I bought some trumpeter ones separate which are more acurate

This is a great kit, but with some shortcomings, possibly due to Trumpeter wanting to make it all things to all modellers. For example it can be built purely as a scale model. or as a waterline model or even as a motorised model. The worst of these is the compromise to make it a waterline model, which means most of the deck is moulded in one piece with the upper hull, leaving you the ends of the quarter deck and foredeck to add to cover various screws etc. avoiding a visible join without having to buy a wooden deck is a challenge to say the least. Its also evident that its an early Trumpeter model, as there is no way now that one of their 1/200th scale models would include plastic ladders and companionways. To make the most of this model, which in all other respects is packed with interest and character, you'll definitely need to supplement the model with extra photo-etched parts. If you do, you'll be well rewarded.

Model ships are not usually my interest but when I saw this at a really good price on Amazon I thought I would see what it's like. This thing is huge at just under 1 metre in length and has a large number of parts, The detail looks great straight from the box. Further detail can be added from after market upgrade sets but built from the box this will build into a really nice looking ship.

Excellent kit for RC conversion due to horizontal split of the hull, both parts fits together perfectly, fastening screws and quite large piece of the deck, moulded together with upper part of the hull. Comparing to this, other Trumpeter kits, that I have - Bismarck and Iowa, is a big step back. From me, at the moment - 5 stars.

Excellent but not for beginners all the models i have made in the past came with a stand this one did not i shall have to try and make one else the painted keel willget scratched (now looking for H.M.S Manxman)

Not for the inexperienced model maker but if you have the skill this kit will produce a stunning model. The quality of the moldings are excellent with high level of detail and no 'flash' or noticable molding line on parts. The availability of additional brass etched kits for additional ladders, rails, etc. only add to the level of detail that this model can be built with.

1/200 trumpeter standard fare. Fantastic kit with lots of detail. Would recommend the Scaledecks.com wooden deck, and the Big ED photo etch sets you really set the kit off. Very impressive. Buyer was a pleasure to deal With.
