Q: Can you please let me know the difference between your active switch and the passive one so l can order the right one for me, thanks best regards rumy

Both will trip if an imbalance is detected between live and neutral (caused by leakage to earth). An active RCD will also drop out in the event of a power failure on the supply to the socket and need resetting but a passive RCD will remain switched on. I always have switched isolation for external sockets, and leave them off when not in use, even if this means isolating at the consumer unit. The active RCD, which is the majority, will then need resetting when the power is reinstated to the socket(s) which is a good reminder to test each time you use the socket. They are both inherently as safe as each other.

No It should always have a proper earth conductor as it is a double socket outlet with an earth terminal. Suggest you run a separate earth conductor from a nearby ring main to the outdoor socket ensuring that the cable conductor size is appropriate. Best ask a qualified electrician to check it out really.
