I Can Make Dolls' Clothes: Easy-to-follow patterns to make clothes and accessories for your favourite doll

I bought this book for my very independent niece (10) who has just started to make her own Barbie clothes. The instructions are basic and clear, the patterns in the book just need tracing and is a good start to basic sewing for dolls - which is perfect as she doesn’t want any adult help.

Looks great for 7 year old grand niece. She had asked for a book to help her make clothes for her dolls so this is ideal. Very well laid out and seems extremely age appropriate to encourage young first time sewists. Simple instructions that I hope will encourage the recipient to try lots of the ideas.

I loved the simplicity of this book which can be used effectively even by a seven year old. No fuss patterns, and don't worry about hems and so on, but just get on and enjoy it and the results while you learn. I can't fault the approach - it does everything to encourage their enthusiasm and nothing to stifle it. It's fun and they learn from it.

Really clear instructions- a smart child could do this unaided, but the writer has also left room for creativity.

This is the best children's introduction to dressmaking that I have seen. It shows children the basics of pattern cutting and the construction of clothes in a simple, easy to follow way. A child will also get experience of different stitches as he or she progresses, and learn to sew on trims, buttons and sequins. Within one day the 10-year old that I gave it to had created an embellished top and skirt for a Barbie, almost entirely by herself. The confidence she gained was priceless. I have bought other dolls clothes books in the past, but even the simplest of them was too complicated - this one is perfect for a child taking those first steps into dressmaking. If I could give it ten stars I would.

Great for younger readers who have big sewing ideas! Instructions are short, clearly written and the pages are laid out in such a way that younger readers are not overwhelmed.

This is a great starter resource to making simple doll clothes. The patterns are simple. The instructions are explicit. There is an index in the back that teaches how to do the sewing steps. This book is for hand sewing, however, a machine would easily do these clothes. There is no facing or hemming, really, so the edges of these garments are raw. This is for beginners. I recommend this book for beginning adults or children.
