This knife surprised me with its overall quality for the price. Let's start with the positive: First off, the presentation is great. Opening the box, you have a well-designed foam surface with cutouts for the knife, knife taco, and a rock that really wants to be a whetstone. The action is also amazing out of the box and only gets better as it breaks in. The blade opens perfectly with the thumb studs and well with the flipper tab. You can still fail the flipper, but it'll open fine if you put any amount of intent into it. There's no play in any direction and the blade drops shut like a guillotine. The heat treat also seems to be good in my limited use. The factory edge was fairly good and could shave out of the box, but I put my own edge on it almost immediately. It sharpened well and came out to a hair-whittling edge, which is pretty solid for D2. It's held up well, but u haven't subjected it to hard use yet. Now on to what I think could be improved: That little rock in the box is only good for weighing down your trash can. It's a super coarse block of what I assume is silicon carbide with a soft binder. I wasn't able to produce an acceptable (shaving) edge with it. It also dished out very fast. I may have got a lemon, but I would advise you toss the provided stone and look at a DMT fine diamond whetstone. They can be had for $40 and will last for years. Also, I would have liked to see a better steel. D2 is a solid budget option, but steels like S35VN, 154CM, M4, 4V, Cru-Wear, etc. are all better options. This is just me being nitpicky, though. D2 is a perfectly fine steel for your average person and the low cost helps this knife offer its great value.

The blade keeps razor sharp with a couple of swipes and very well made. The clips tension is great. It will wear out the lining of the jeans pockets but who needs to lose this knife. Flips open when needed and I like the scales. I've preferred carbon steel for knives. D2 I like and plan on using it for a long time. Worth getting that camp knife I'm looking at. Thanks for the extra stone.

Holtzman makes a wonderful knife! I have many blades from Benchmade to small company custom knives, and this stands with all of them. I picked up a few different knives a while back and my son came home on leave from his duty station. I had bought another knife for him and this one for me. Well, he asked if I wouldn't mind if he traded for the Holtzman. I was happy to give it to him, and I went on Amazon and bought myself another one.

I'm a novice when it comes to knifes, so my terminology may be off. I like this knife alot, when I first went to order it, I thought it was going to be to big in the pocket for everyday carry, this was the first thing I wanted to check, but when I got it out of my postage bag I couldn't get past how nice the box that the knife came in was. It even had its own holster zip pack as well. It also came with a sharpening stone which I have not used yet. For the quality, the price is set at a bargain. I've carried the knife several times now and the blade and action are just as sharp and smooth as the day I got it. would definitely recommend this.

This is a great knife. Well constructed. Smooth action. Razor sharp. Prefect size and balance. Super functional blade design. However the belt clip snapped after a week of normal use. I salvaged a clip off another knife I don't like as much and made it serviceable.

I have big hands and needed a knife that was big enough for a good grip and comfortable. The blade comes nice and sharp. The locking mechanism works well and I even appreciate the perfect weight. This is a serious knife for those who can appreciate a well built and designed knife. I carry mine in a sheath because I use it for work everyday but it comes with a clip if you want to take that route. I have many knives but this truly is my everyday carry. My compliments to the designer.

Bought for everyday carry, and am beyond impressed. I have several holtzman gorilla knives so I decided to order the pocket knife for edc. Initially the clip broke and I was upset so I made a not so great review. The owner of the store reached out to me and wanted to resolve the issue. All I wanted was the a new clip or the option to buy one. Instead, this maniac sends me a whole new knife kit AND a replacement clip for the original. Along with the new items I noticed the clip has been reinforced and thickened in the original weak points. Fantastic knife, sharp, easy to open and fits great in hand, along with fantastic customer service, I will continue to shop Holtzman Gorilla indefinitely.

Best pocket knife I’ve owned so far. Like the box and the quality. I use it daily and it hasn’t even developed so much as a rattle. Cleans up easy and stays sharp. I’ve not sharpened this since I got it for Christmas.
