Korg - GA-2

I bought this to replace a clip-on tuner which I didn't have much confidence in. The clip-on had a small display and was hard to see and difficult to use. Korg have been around for a long time now and have a lot of experience in producing quality products for musicians, the tuner is no exception - it's great. The tuner is well made, easy to use and accurate. The built-in mic covers your acoustic instrument needs and there is a jack socket for use with electric guitars etc. Its suitable for bass guitars too. Ideal for tweaking the intonation of your guitar for perfect tuning.

Great little tuner. I prefer this to having a clip on as there is no need for a spring clip that often breaks. I have been using this one for a few months and it does a super job.

I hear all the pros saying that they do not understand why anyone would buy and use a gadget such as the Korg GA-2 pocket tuner, as foot pedal tuners are so much better and convenient - and there is a truth in that and certainly, when playing through an amp, that makes perfect sense, but, many is the time that I can't be bothered to plug in to my amp when practicing, so it is nice to use this little gadget rather than have a tuner pegged onto the end of my headstock. (If I was going to do that, I might as well have purchased a Gibson fitted either with G-force or Min-etune.....eeeewwwww!!) The beauty of this little gadget is that apart from working straight out of the box, you do not have to plug the guitar into it (you can if you want) as it will pick up the sound of the strings being played from upto a couple of metres away and it is accurate. I took the unit out of it's box installed the enclosed batteries and had tuned my guitar within 10 minutes .....of which I spent 5 minutes trying to get the back off the thing to install those batteries! Yes, it is very fiddly because there is little to lever against, but once that came off, then the rest was very simple. The fact that it will tune a 7 stringer is lost on me, being a 6 string player, but the addition of being able to achieve several additional tunings from standard makes life very simple indeed (I always hated changing the tuning on my guitar because of the time it took to get there and of course, getting it back again, but this is child's play, it has to be said) It certainly fits in the pocket, but as it is so small and flat, it takes up very little space in my guitar case along with my other essentials (spare strings/picks/winder and wire cutters) Cheap as chips and works - what's not to like?

This is a nice little tuner for my uBass. There are a couple of things to note about it. Firstly, I normally tune on open strings and then thirds but this tuner will not do it so I have to tune on open strings and then fifths and then it is OK. Secondly there is no backlight so in some locations it is difficult to see the tuning scale/pointer properly. But at the price you can't really complain because it does it's job perfectly and appears to be very accurate. The supplier delivered quickly and there were no problems.

I’ve had one of these for years - exceptionally good. And a bargain too.
