I haven't actually used this and will have to return it as it won't be of any use to me, however i've ordered one of these cables before for use on one of my past Macbook Pro's and it solves many of the problems encountered whereby you may find that your system is either refusing to start up or is running incredibly slowly. A quick test to ascertain whether the cable requires replacing is to disconnect the internal drive cable and plug in an external drive to see if the system installs the operating system to it quickly. If so, and the external drive boots and works fine you can' be pretty sure that it's either the cable at fault, or (as in my case) a blown chip on the mainboard preventing the fan operating
