Used for an Art Discovery class
Used these with a class of third-graders, the project was a great success. We have used paper plates for the project in the past - but, with a little hunt, we found these die cuts and the price was just about the same as the paper plates were. -- but so much more appropriate. With paper plates, which have been used for decades in classrooms, the kids first have to visualize a mask as a final product. For some kids this is tough. With these die cuts, they see a mask right from the beginning and they concentrate on creating a decorated mask. In our classes, we show the kids images of historical masks used by various groups throughout history. Then we challenge them to either create an original mask that illustrates something from our time and culture. The kids love the project and they end up with art they are proud of -- you can't ask for more than that. Thank you for a good product.

They were just great. Accepts felt tip
Used these for a summer camp primary grades art projects. They were just great. Accepts felt tip, crayon, oil pastel, acrylic and several types of dyes. This is gonna be a staple in my art classes from now on. The kids loved them as well!

Mostly good. . . one little issue
This is a very cool way to create 3D masks. The only drawback I find is the glossy finish on the paper.I drew guidelines on my mask with a regular pencil and colored them in using a marker. The pencil marks were nearly impossible to erase. The surface doesn't really take colored pencil well, and markers can be messy because it takes a while to dry. If I am dealing with a student who is a perfectionist or easily frustrated, I might consider having them use the paper provided as a rough draft, then trace it like a template onto better paper for the final draft. On the plus side, the paper itself is nice and sturdy. It shouldn't be hard to show students how to tape together their final product. It was easy to alter the eye and mouth holes to fit the design. Finally, 40 in one package for this price was a very good deal.

Masks are a bit flimsy and when you paint them, they will easily bend. I was hoping that the masks were a bit more sturdy.

... an assisted living senior community and this was a good choice for a Holloween craft
I work at an assisted living senior community and this was a good choice for a Holloween craft. I bought stick on beads and markers to decorate. Colored pencils were too light. Mask needsto be taped and elastic attached after if you wish to wear it.

I am a NYC teacher and I recently read the Bronx Masquerade with my ELA class. I needed a fun project to do with the students and came up with idea for the students to create their own "masquerade" based on their personality, feelings, etc. The masks came out great; the students did a fantastic job. The mask had an easy to use material that was easy for students to draw and color on. I will definitely complete this activity again next year.
