Brilliant and inexpensive. I 'support' my childs maths learning at home. I'm extremely good at maths but it is a chore to make up questions and by the time I've taken account of the paper I would use to write out questions, the time involved, and the effort to make sure the questions are at the right level, not to mention following the curriculum, these books are a no-brainer. They are inexpensive and comprehensive. I have the answer book too so I don't need to labour through them myself except when my child makes a mistake and I help them through it. We used the year 5 books last year and I'm sure I will be using year 7, if it is available, next year.

As someone who has marked for the new KS2 SATs, and with our son sitting his this year I was really curious to see what this textbook was like. I have used a lot of CGP materials at Key stage 3,4 and 5 but never myself at KS2. I was pleased to see that the style was incredibly similar, with a combination of both explanation and questions. Note, this is not a revision guide, it is far more comprehensive with far more questions in it than that, it is a text book. Tasks are differentiated into 3 different levels which is pleasing to see and there are plenty of questions to keep you occupied for hours. This is something that if purchased at the start of Year 6 could be used right the way through to support them with what they are doing at school. There is one area I believe these books to be lacking and that is with the problem solving element. There are the odd questions in there but I would certainly like to see more of the ‘reasoning’ element, this has become such a key part of these assessments that I am disappointed to see it missed out. With an rrp of £7 I think this is perfect for parents wanting to do a little bit of maths at home with their children, but please don’t use all of the questions, they will be working non-stop throughout the year. This is good but could be even better.

My son is in year 5 at school and really enjoys maths. I bought this to go in our toilet as he likes to read in there so I thought why not educate him at the same time! He likes the book as he said it makes him think but he is also proud of the fact it is aimed at year 6 and he can complete a lot of the questions. Has three sections to each topic which sets the ground rules, lets them practice then stretches them if they feel confident with the topic. Highly recommend this book.

I use this regularly in the classroom. Differentiated three ways it covers the fundamentals of maths although doesn't really go into greater depth learning.

Delightful learning book, it has examples as well as questions. Easy to explain to my child. Very helpful.
