Great cooler, it can even be used to supplement a freezer or refrigerator.
I’ve been using this cooler for over two years on multiple trips, and it has performed flawlessly. It runs equally well on 12V and 120V power, is quiet, and delivers excellent cooling performance. Because it uses a true compressor, it works reliably in all conditions. When my neighbor’s refrigerator failed, it was even able to keep her breast milk frozen. Be aware that if you set the temperature to 36°F or lower, items near the inside wall closest to the control panel may freeze.

Reliable & affordable portable fridge/freezer
Purchased specifically for a road trip that requires overnight stay to keep frozen bag of fresh food frozen to avoid buying dry ice or bags of ice. It performs as advertised! We did test after sitting it upright for about 24hrs after receiving this unit. Plugged into the outlet directly with a fridge thermometer inside not specifically to compare accuracy but to confirm it ran as expected. Then tested it with ice cubes in the little bowl. We were impressed by this little unit that we decided to drive with it in the van for couple of days to test out further with grocery shopping trips which included Ice Creams with about 1hr drive altogether. Success. The temp difference between this unit and fridge thermometer we had was about +/-3 to 5F. We did not mind this as much as the temp fluctuation can be different between environment or what we have inside, and it wasn't 10F difference. We did plug it in before the trip to prep before placing the frozen items inside the cooler. The unit itself is quiet enough not to notice it's running while driving. And we loved the fact that it came with 12v and 110 plug - this was important as our primary use, of course, was for the road trip. Other units we were looking at required separate purchase of accessories (including adapters etc. etc.) which added up to be a huge investment. As a first time owners of portable fridge/freezer, this fit the bill with good rating that we can try affordably. Went for 23QT to fit between the seats, on the floor. Light to carry, small enough to be portable, quick to reach the desired temp. We've been using quite often for the last couple of months and it's been really reliable.

BougeRV 23qt review at 10 months
It has been close to a year since I purchased this Fridge, and I want to leave my honest review. I’ve been using the BougeRV 23qt since July 2024 for my Jeep Gladiator, and I can confidently say it has exceeded all expectations. I currently have a 50qt ARB fridge that I use on my off-road teardrop trailer. Comparing to this one to the ARB which is much more expensive, this compact fridge performs extremely well above its weight in performance, reliability, and value. **Cooling Performance:** This fridge cools down *fast*—within 15 to 20 minutes, it's already well below refrigeration temps. It consistently maintains temperature even in hotter climates and inside a warm car, which is more than I can say living in AZ, especially during the brutal summer months. I set the average temperature at 25 degrees and have no problems keeping it at that level daily. I have set the temperature at -5 degrees on a few occasions, and it has had no issues at all. **Efficiency:** What really surprised me is how energy-efficient it is. It draws very little power, making it perfect for my overlanding setup and road trips. I've run it for days off a small power station without worry. When the Jeep is not on the go, I have it plugged into my Jackery 500, setting the fridge at 25 degrees and using it constantly for a 6-8 hour period. It only consumed about 40% of the battery life. **Build Quality:** The unit is solidly built and better than I expected. The handle could be made deeper and I can see someone with much larger fingers having difficulty with it when lifting the fridge. The digital controls are intuitive and easy to use, and the LED display is clear even in bright light. It doesn't feel cheap at all—despite being significantly more affordable than top-tier brands. **Noise Level:** Very quiet. You’ll barely hear it running, which is a big plus if you’re sleeping in your vehicle or nearby. **Portability:** At 23 quarts, it's the perfect size for solo travel or weekend getaways. It holds more than you think, and the compact design means it fits easily in the backseat or trunk. **Final Thoughts:** The BougeRV 23Qt car fridge has worked tremendously well for my needs. It’s rare to find a product at this price point that can genuinely outperform some of the more expensive competition. Whether you're new to car camping or just looking for a reliable backup, this fridge is a smart buy and I highly recommend it. **The only areas of improvement that I can see are a drain when cleaning/washing, like my ARB fridge, and deeper handles that allow a better grip.

BEST PURCHASE FOR OUR ROAD TRIP!
We purchased this cooler for a recent two week road trip. My plan was to hopefully avoid the mess of refreshing ice, and give us the ability to save money by bringing some drinks as well as some food to make lunches. This by far paid for itself in this trip alone! I was concerned with the size when I first opened it, but we managed to pack 4 bottles of tea, two bottles of water, a squeezable bottle of mayo, family pack of ham, two packs of salami, two quart size bags of bite size beef sticks, two quart bags of sliced up cheddar cheese, a bag of gouda cheese squares, and a quart bag of lettuce leaves, and still had a little room. We plugged it in with the 12V adapter while in the car (Chrysler Pacifica), then would use the plug when we were in hotel rooms. This little cooler held it's temperature even when the car was off and we were at the zoo for 7 hours in 80+ degree temps! We were able to fit leftovers in it from dinners out and it cooled down drinks quickly when we would put new bottles in it. The best part was not having to deal with draining water and replenishing ice throughout the trip! I hesitated spending the money on it, but I am so glad we did! It will definitely become our go-to cooler for tailgating and road trips! I also plan to test the freezer ability next time I am down by my favorite ice cream shop which is two hours from my house!

Was great for a cross Canada trip. Kept our food nice and cool. Came home and it suddenly just stopped working. Very disappointed, especially with all the great reviews. I was hoping to use this for years to come. Oh well. Update: The seller stepped up and sent us a new one. So far it's been working fantastic with no issues. I've been testing it for a couple weeks as a backup freezer and am able to keep things at -18 with no problem!

I have a Dodge Grand Caravan camper conversion and my husband built slide-out drawers/bed conversion. So we had a fixed height and I realised my old cooler was not going to cut it. I struggled to find a low profile real fridge and just could not believe the price of an actual real fridge/freezer with precise temperature control. Unreal. The build is great quality, handle grips make it easy to manoeuvre, the imprinted instructions on the lid mean you are never left trying to remember what each control is for. While not relevant to the mighty Dodge Grand Caravan, the ability to set a battery max. draw level is supreme too. The hum of the fridge is barely discernible (and I am a light sleeper) and the eco and max modes are just so flexible: use max when you are in a rush to hit the road, and use eco on the road. What I do like is, when you start up the car, it will give one beep to confirm it is connected. When not connected I like the Rocksolar battery system as it is also smaller but powerful. Using reflective window coverings will keep internal temp down and save your battery. This will fit a soy milk carton upright so that's a huge win right there. If you need a low profile yet spacious fridge/freezer this is it. We have a bus conversion and it came with Dometic fridge/freezer and, yes, they are bigger (as is the bus) but we cannot see a difference in quality. Great intuitive and user-friendly settings. P.S. Remember this can ONLY be a fridge OR freezer at any one time. I'm planning on getting a heavy duty non-plug in cooler and moving over everyday food items couple days at a time to the cooler, keeping this as a freezer.

Product arrived well packed. Fit and finish seems very good and the overall appearance and quality seem very good. The temperature variance seemed to be within spec at 5 degrees. I ran it for 2 days on AC and 1 day on DC. The noise from the compressor is very modest. The controls are very visible, however to avoid accidently changing them each change needs to be proceeded by an unlock pressing of the settings menu. You just need to get used to it. I have a larger 45 liter model from a different brand that I decided was to big and heavy for weekend or hotel traveling so I went with the 23 liter but was tempted with the 30 liter. So will see how it works in practice. The brand seems reliable and they certainly speak up for customer service witch is important as I understand these things are pretty much impossible to get repaired. For what I paid i'm willing to take the chance.

The temp accuracy could be better but when you take some precautions, it's not bad. I'm using this as a fridge for camping trips. The temp, once set, will average at your settings. So if you set it to 3C, it will go from 1-2C to 5-6C, or about. At this temp, some items would get partially frozen. I found out when I tried to cook my food to realize my meat was frozen. I have to set it to 5C to get something that makes sense for a fridge. Also, when you add a room temp item, make sure it's not touching the sides. Particurarly the front right corner (if you look down at the fridge from the front). I once added a beer can that was left all day in the car and was hot, placed it at the front right corner, against sides... after some time I noticed the compressor was running non stop and current temp was showing 16C. It took me a while to understand that the sensor (or one sensor) was located at this exact spot and was getting a "false" reading. I relocated the beer can and it solved the "issue". So now, when I add beer cans and water bottles, I add them at the center and make sure they aren't against sides. Other than that I feel the fridge is pretty good for the price. Power consumption is pretty low, pulling about 35-40 W from my Bluetti when the compressor is running, and close to zero when not (it doesn't register one watt on the Bluetti). You can run this fridge mutiple days with a 700-1000 Wh solar generator, possibly for ever if you have solar panels. Running the fridge directly from my Jeep's battery overnight was also fine, using the medium setting for protection (even though BougeRV recommend high setting). I would not recommend running it this way for 2 or more days, unless you have a booster pack, or a dual battery setup. Overall I'm satisfied and I would recommend this fridge. As a foot note, I ordered this a couple of days before Prime Day (I had forgotten about this thing), and was very frustrated when I noticed there was a substantial rebate on the fridge. I contacted BougeRV and they applied the rebate and refunded me the difference. That's good customer service.
