Difficult to follow instructions
Assembling the riggings was very difficult. The instructions very confusing and once assembled the material used is badly wrinkled from packaging. Not as impressive looking as I had hoped or as it is depicted.

For the price, exceeds expectations.
I have several model boats in my library at home, most of which are plank and frame construction and cost a LOT more than this. The thing is, from more than 5 feet away, this inexpensive model looks 99% as good as the hand-built, delicate, plank on frame boats. Small details like the separate rudder, real planks instead of drawn lines, etc. all become indiscernible from a few feet away. Once could get an armada of these for the price of one museum-type model. Assembly is very simple- plug in the mast, then start hooking the lines up- gently stretching them in place. The trick is to go slow and just follow the diagram in order. Slowly pulling the lines into place- everything goes smoothly. This model is a great way to add some class and sophistication to a room, and nobody will know it didn't cost a fortune.

Set sail!
I didn't time myself, but it didn't take long at all to attach the sail. The instructions start out pretty good but seems like it could have used more direction towards the last few steps. The diagram cleared up any confusion though, just follow along in order and you'll get it. The ship looks great. No complaints from me about the wood finish or sail quality. The sail does have a bit of a "weathered" look to it but it would likely look off if it was a perfect white. There is a screw into the ship from the stand, I didn't attempt to but I assume the stand is removable. I've always wanted a ship collection ever since I was a child and seen them in souvenir shops, and this thing brought that feeling back into me!

Sails are creased
The sails come folded and when the ship is assembled the fold creases are prominent in the sails.
