![Thor: The Dark World [Blu-ray] [Region Free]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81HCdLZ30PL.jpg)

Action adventure sequel which sees Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as the Marvel Comics superhero Thor, based on the mythical Norse God of Thunder. After the events of 'Marvel Avengers Assemble' (2012), Earth and the Nine Realms come under attack from the powerful Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) and his age-old army that have existed since even before the creation of the universe. With the enemy proving near impossible to defeat, Thor approaches his adoptive brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) for help, despite his villainous past. Meanwhile, the hero becomes reacquainted with the woman he loves, astrophysicist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), and takes her to Asgard in an attempt to protect her from harm. The cast also includes Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Kat Dennings and Zachary Levi. Review: Fun sequel and a great visual spectacle. - Thor: The Dark World is the second film in Marvel's phase two series of it's cinematic universe. Carrying on from Avengers Assemble The Dark World sees Thor (Chris Hemsworth) having returned to Asgard in an attempt to bring peace to the nine realms after Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) grab for power on Midgard. During this time the realms are aligning in an incredibly rare event known as the convergence. This event brings forth Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) the leader of the last of the Dark Elves who wish to use it to remove light from all the realms. I really liked the Dark World though it's not quite as good as the first film, it really shows how Thor has grown though, how he has matured in his duties. It doesn't have as much character development as a whole however and the leader of the Dark Elves Malekith gets very little development, he's just kind of evil because they want the universe dark. This film has a decent amount of humour and all in the right places and although it uses a lot of characters both on Asgard and on Midgard the pacing of the film is fantastic throughout and I thought the ending was especially brilliant. The acting is great, Chris Hemsworth has really settled into the role of Thor though Tom Hiddleston as Loki simply steals every scene he is in showing his unbalanced emotional state. The guy is just brilliant. The sets and special effects are also superb and really set the scene for the actors, Asgard looks amazing at every moment and the fight scenes have really developed with Thor's move set. The blu-ray itself has a pretty cool menu using an almost sketch art with the core colour of each character. The extras are also pretty decent. A Marvel one shot mini film linking to Iron Man 3, featurettes looking into Thor and Loki, how the music of Thor was made. Not to mention gag reels, commentaries, among other bits. Overall this is a great film that has me excited for Thor 3 that comes with some fun little extras. I always thought Thor would be so difficult to turn into a decent believeable film yet Marvel continue to surprise me. Recommended. + Tom Hiddleston steals every scene as Loki. + Great sets and special effects. + Has excellent humour and pacing. + Good extras. - Malekith isn't developed enough as a villain. Review: Great, entertaining film - Great film..its pretty obvious one of the stand out reasons why is Loki. Just love the character and Tom Hiddleston gives a brilliant performance as does Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Love the fact its set in London, just makes it a little more refreshing, and love the fact it features dark elves.

Better than Iron Man 3 and the first Thor film
After a shaky start with Iron Man 3, Marvel's "Phase 2" seems to find its stride again in this film. This is due in no small part to Tom Hiddlestrom's Loki who once again steals every scene he is in. This film's strength is the better development of the main characters than was presented in the first film. The first Thor film suffered slightly in that it had a lot to set up for the Avengers which character development suffering as a result. Thor finding his humility and returning to Asguard happened too quickly and easily in the first film. Here we see real development from both Thor and Loki as necessity and shared tragedy force them to put aside their differences and work together. Most of the supporting cast from the first film return with Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgård and Kat Dennings all getting a chance to strut their stuff again. Unfortunately this leaves some of the more exotic characters sidelined. Once again, Thor's friends from Asguard get little to do apart from wave assorted weapons around and give Loki openings for his witty one-liners. But the worst victim by is Malekith. The main villain of the piece, played with brooding malice by the excellent Christopher Ecclestone gets barely 20 lines in the whole film. This is such as shame as he is the driver of the plot and gives such a great performance when he does speak. I would love to see an extended cut with more Malekith but sadly I doubt this will happen.

Thor.. Thor.. Thor..
What's more to say, it's THOR. ALL the cast and crew have made an excellent film worthy of the God of Thunder himself. There's humour and drama with little twists here and there to keep you stuck in your seat from start to end. We can only hope good things are still to come in the next film, it's a lot to live upto.
