Reasonably priced workhorse. N7
Works well. Exactly what I needed at a reasonable price. I've tried other brands of similarly priced vacuums and was disappointed with the quality of those machines. Those other brands just couldn't handle the pet hair and kid stuff that inevitably gets sucked into the vaccuum. I came back to Hoover. They make a more resilient machine, regardless of price level. Plus, I'm able to resolve most jams (operator error) myself. Many of my old attachments from my previous Hoover fit this one. (I purchased my other, fancier Hoover so long ago I don't remember when I got it. Motor still works on that one. Only reason I replaced it is my daughter vacuumed up something that's preventing me from switching from the wand to the floor option.) This Hoover is a simpler machine that lets me get the job done, no hassles. It's a workhorse and exactly what I wanted for a competitive price. You get more bells and whistles (more attachments, dirt finder, etc.) with more expensive Hoovers, but this one handles the chore well. I like that I don't need bags and can just empty and clean the barrel myself. It's kind of satisfying to see all the crud I'm getting rid of, and it's easy to tell when it needs to be emptied. I also like that I can wash and reuse the filter. Less trash, no need to buy more stuff just to keep the machine running. The machine weight is fine and what I'd expect from the durability level I need. The handle on the canister is useful for hauling the machine up/down stairs.

Finally, a vacuum that works and cleans easily
The first WindTunnel I bought years ago lasted for a great while until the plastic handle cracked. My second purchase was another Hoover but with a swiveling feature. That one sucked, but not in a good way. It didn’t even last a few weeks until one of the tiny wheels up front broke off, followed by its sibling on the other side a few weeks later. Enter my third purchase which was this vacuum. It’s a definite upgrade from the original model as the dust cup completely comes apart, even the part inside the canister which makes for easy breezy cleaning. While it can’t swivel around corners, nothing has fallen off a year later. Vacuum is easily adjustable via 6 position heights ranging from hard floor to fluffy carpets. Auto winding cord works well and suction is strong. My only gripe is the hand held hose is a bit too short for my liking. Other than that, highly recommended!

This works great on pet hair and pulls a lot of fine dirt out of rugs
This is a very good vacuum. It's a good value for the dollar. It has a automatic winding cord, it's easy to clean the cylinder, and it has extension tools. I like everything about it except that it is pretty heavy. I just got it today and was able to vacuum up a week's worth of pet hair came up right away, and some dirt that was trapped in on people's feet. The dirt came up as a fine powder which impressed me because I have different lengths of rug and floor and it worked perfectly on all of the surfaces I used it on.

Excellent suction. Read my review
This thing sucks. No really it sucks up a lot of dirt and pet hair. Hoover is by far the best vacuum out there for home use. I’ve bought my wife several other brands and they can’t pick up what this thing can. Highly recommended. If you’re like me and buy items based on reviews, I would definitely buy this again. Wife is very happy with it and that’s a win for me!

Same as the Old Boss (Fantastic!)
We had the older version of this vac for over 10 years and it was getting tired. Time to replace. After reading the reviews was disturbed and puzzled by some of them pointing out small odd differences that they made to sound negative and so I was initially put off this vac. After reading/comparing I decided to disregard these slightly negative reviews and sally forth having trusted Hoover for so many years and getting excellent service from our older similar unit. So glad I did. This vac is superb value for money. Very much the same as older model but a bit refreshed. Yes, power button and rinse-able disc is lower in the handle. A slight re-design for whatever reason. All around shape of vac is the same. Color scheme is different from old model. This new vac has super suction. Our cat migrates bits of litter around the house and I can see these bits shake as the vac approaches with the power of the suction. Brush must be adjusted a notch higher probably due to being new and not worn down at all. This brings me to the 'hard to push around' mentioned in a couple of reviews. It is the same as old vac. Same weight which is not overly light, a bit heavy but is the same. If the brush is adjusted low and you try to push over a carpet, you will encounter resistance due to the brush really scrubbing the carpet. In this case it will be rather hard to push. Our floors are a mix of bare, low area rugs and low/medium carpets with a couple of very small thin pads near the entrance. Old vac I mostly had brush set on next to lowest. This new vac brush set one notch higher (middle notch). At this setting I can hear the brush lightly touch the bare floor and have plenty of scrub for all carpets/rugs and difficulty of pushing is same as old, as would be expected. The suction is so powerful, this vac will actually pick up the small pads at the entrance door. I have to stand on them while vacuuming carefully or they will be sucked right up and stick on the vac bottom. I'm so extremely pleased with the value and performance of this vac and so happy we got it. Really no idea why anyone would buy another unless perhaps needing a propelled model due to one's own physical limitations. The one major difference from old model is the power cord seems to be about 3-4 inches shorter! Otherwise everything works awesome. Auto-wind cord snaps up super quick. I highly recommend this vac.

Two Years of Frustration
I bought this Hoover UH71350 two years ago. It lasted a year longer than the previous two Hoovers I owned; this will be the last Hoover I buy. If this machine had been an engineering student's class project, I'd have graded it a D+ for its very poor design. Among the design flaws: 1. The power button is in the middle of the upright handle, meaning that you can’t turn the machine on/off with your foot. Instead, you have to bend over to turn it on with a free hand. 2. When you use the hose for attaching upholstery tools, the inlet duct spews dust back into your room (and your lungs). 3. The dirt cup opens from the bottom for emptying. However, dust and hair get hung up on the filter in the upper part of the cup, so you’ll have to reach up there with fingers or a tool to empty it. Sort of makes the “bagless” feature a pain rather than a benefit. 4. Both the power cord (25 feet) and the hose (4 feet) are too short. At least the cord can be plugged into other outlets as you move along, but if you’re trying to reach cobwebs above your head with a 4-foot hose that’s anchored to the bottom of an 18-pound machine, forget it. You’ll have to use a broom. 5. The rewind cord is not a useful feature. Bending over to pull the cord out hand over hand is not a labor saver, and after a few rewinds, the coiling action stops doing the rewind completely. I long ago took to hand-coiling it lasso-style and draping it over the handle. 6. By far, the most frustrating design flaw was that I’ve never been able to detach the dirt cup from its lid so that I can clean the filters (see photo). But how does the machine perform? The suction has always been good and it cleans carpet well, as ANY vacuum should. Is that enough to make up for its poor design? Not for me. After two years, I’m having to buy another vacuum simply because I can’t clean or change the filthy filters. What a waste.

MOST AWESOME VACUUM CLEANER I'VE EVER OWNED
I had a 12amp Wind Tunnel that I'd had for about two years that, despite the screws breaking off when I tried replacing the belt in AGAIN, I loved how well it worked. I bought this one, based upon the 12amp answer that someone gave about it. When it was delivered I discovered that it is actually a 10amp. I decided, though, to at least give it a try, before returning it. When I vacuumed my carpet (which my entire apartment is) it vacuumed up so much stuff I thought it was tearing up my carpet. As it turned out, it was actually vacuuming up what my previous vacuum cleaner had started leaving behind. Since I've owned this one, my carpet has never felt and looked so clean. It works as good my old steel vacuum cleaner (I paid hundreds for), and it isn't as bulky and heavy. It has more bristles than my last Hoover, and more suction power, so it gets everything in one pass. And it has no problem vacuuming up pet hair. I have Belgian Malinois who sheds constantly (despite regularly brushing), so I vacuum almost daily. It gets every bit of her hair easily. The hose is super flexible and easy to work with cleaning ceiling fans, vents, and blinds. No more having to dust those first. I can do them all all at once. It works amazingly well on regular floors, without kicking back and throwing stuff out the back end. All in all...it is the best and most awesome vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. The price is a huge bonus. I highly recommend it!!! On a side note... 1) The canister really should be emptied after each vacuuming. I, personally, also always brush mine with a bottle brush to keep it from clogging, and so I don't have to wash it as often. The hose, canister, and filter should be washed regularly. Otherwise that's what causes that nasty vacuum cleaner smell...you don't want your home smelling like when you vacuum. I also fully extend the hose and replace it, before emptying the canister, to get out anything that might be caught between the grooves of the hose. 2) To keep the Cord Rewind working properly, the cord shouldn't be pulled out much further past the yellow warning, and especially not past the red warnings that it has. And, the cord should be untwisted before, or as you're rewinding it, so it rewinds as it should. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Heavy
Works well but it’s heavy. The extension hose could be longer and a bit easier to maneuver. The attachments seem cheap and don’t stay attached well. Easy to empty collection container.
