Makes my uke sound like a much more expensive intrument!
I thought my Flight Aurora baritone uke sounded really good for a mid-price instrument and I didn't consider replacing the strings until one snapped, which rather forced the issue. I installed a set of Aquila Reds and the sound was totally transformed. It sounds so good I just can't stop playing it! Another bonus - an E string intonation problem with the original strings (noticeably flat at the 12th fret) has been cured.

Favourite strings
Fitted these to a koa baritone and I really like them. The texture of the strings is a little rough which for me adds a bit of grip. The guage is nice and thin so I don't get any dullness from any of them. The tension feels good and suit my baritones action. More importantly they sound great. I am going to purchase a set for my low g tenor.

Excellent
Really impressed with the quality of the strings, I hammer them all day most days and the come back for more. So excellent and the sound from them are excellent to but I put a anti vibration sponge on the top string as I play them on a baritone and the length makes it hum for ages.

I wanted a good set to put on a recent purchase (Kala Baritone
I wanted a good set to put on a recent purchase (Kala Baritone, circa £250 new), for Christmas, for my 8.5yr old son, who has been having uke lessons up to then, on a Concert uke, for every week, for almost one year. The strings that came on the guitar soon started to deteriorate - the 3rd and 4th strings (G & D strings, respectively). I assumed the strings were probably a cheap brand - so I wanted something better. I decided to get these Aquila Reds. I read the reviews about having to be careful not to break the strings by tuning up to pitch, as much as possible without the string in the nut slots. I own multiple guitars and quite a few ukes, and played for 30yrs or so, so I knew I could be careful stringing up this uke. For some reason, by the time I actually put the strings on the uke, my memory of the reviews was that it was the unwound strings that break easily (I think I have been quite wrong on that !!). Anyway, they went on without problems - but I was very careful. Similarly, I was careful placing the wound 3rd and 4th strings. No string breakages. Very happy with these strings indeed - soundwise, tone and volume. However, within ONE week, the wound strings were beginning to go shiny/squashed, then come apart over the 2nd fret - especially the 3rd/G string. 8 days after stringing up, the windings over the 2nd fret have broken, beginning to unwind AND are now buzzing upon strumming. So, overall, I was the initially VERY happy with these strings, and now quite disappointed, at least with the wound strings, only 1 week later, from just light strumming, by my 8yr of old son - who during this week has been strumming (and singing along to) Bad Moon Rising, by Acreedence Clearwater Revival. So now, I need to get two new wound strings for this uke. Is this problem with all string brand and set/material type, for D & G strings, for Baritones, or is it just found with this brand & set ??? For the record, I checked the 2nd fret - and it is highly polished, just like ALL the other frets, without any nicks on the surface that might tear away at the string windings. If it is the guitar, and not the windings, then perhaps the frets are too tall, then perhaps the string is able to be pressed down too far, before reaching the fretboard, creating too much stretch in the string behind the fret ??? I need to try out some more wound strings to see if this happens again. Any advice well received !!???

FANTASTIC SWEET TONE, great sustain
I've had GHS and Aquila Nylgut on my Ohana baritone uke, plus a couple of other brands of wound strings as those wear out faster. When I noticed my D and G strings about to snap, I decided to try the Red Series and replace all four, keeping the higher two as spares. These reds are fantastic! Beautiful sweet tone and more sustain than other strings. The balance between all four strings is spot-on, too, and 24 hours after fitting the strings, they're still in perfect tune. One thing with Aquila Red series: be sure to WATCH THE VIDEO on aquila's website about how to tune them up. They're fragile, so if you just whack them on and spin the tuners, they'll snap either right then, or a short while later. You need to keep them out of the slot on the nut as you tighten them up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGH1d8IP_Us

Amazing Service
The delivery was incredibly fast, accompanied by a nice signed letter with instructions and essential tips. There is also a website and phone number if help changing strings are needed. The letter was full of great information. This is my second order with this wonderful company and I will continue to use them and highly recommend Original Artisan.

Baritone strings on a tenor uke ? It works!
I wanted to try out a baritone sound on my tenor laminate ukulele. I purchased this set (two wound strings, two red ones). Beautiful sound and feeling, without being sloppy. Strings are thin, like all the other Red ones (for GCEA soprano, concert and tenor). I highly recommend them.

Work well on a tenor uke
I wanted to tune my Kala KA-JTE-HBC tenor ukulele D-G-B-A to be the same as my tenor guitar in Chicago tuning, or a baritone ukulele. Although these strings are designed for baritone ukulele which is a longer scale they worked perfectly on the tenor and once they have stretched a little they hold their tuning well. The tone is quite a bit darker than the tenor strings tuned (low)G-C-E-A I was using previously, which is what I was hoping for in choosing these. The would strings don't squeak like some wound strings do when changing hand position.

OMG! No really. These strings are a completely different animal. I have been playing on strings (guitar and ukes) for 30 years. I just got these from Amazon for my Kala baritone. Yes, the strings they replaced were also made by Aquila, but these red things are so different and enjoyable that I cannot help make the comparison that the switch was like going from driving a Honda Civic to driving a Bentley Continental (never actually been inside a Continental, but I can imagine....) these strings are are so true to pitch - and so rich in tone, with a bright attack and a warm (gut like) timbre which sustains nicely (forever) and I cannot recommend spending the extra 3 or 4 bucks to experience the sheer smokey velvet luxury of these strings (ok, that was a bit rich) but really they are fine, fine strings. BTW - I have never written a review for anything I have bought before this!
