Perfect Eggs
My old faithful electric egg boil/ poach contraption finally died, so the hunt began. I was tired of the long wait with an electric, so had my mind set on something else. I tried the little pots in boiling water on the stove—messy. So I started looking for a microwave poacher. After a couple ended up in the brash, I tried this one. Trial and error resulted in 70 seconds for perfect eggs. I don’t pierce the eggs nor oil the cups; I just put in a little water, drop in the eggs, and 70 seconds later, I have absolutely perfect eggs with minimal cleaning. What wondrous contraption will they think of next?

Works as described
I purchased the non-silicone version of this model, and it does work as described. The instructions are few and far between, but I was able to get the basics from some of the reviews. Perhaps the biggest issue is that it was difficult to nail down the perfect microwave time and power level for poaching eggs that are satisfactory. It took me a week and two dozen eggs of testing to finally find the right settings for eggs the way I like them. During the week of testing, I adjusted microwave power, water level, water temperature, and the size of the egg as well. The best combination that I found was 1min,50 seconds at 70% power. On my 1100 Watt microwave, that is roughly 770 W. The egg whites were almost fully cooked, and the yolk was still somewhat soft. Not perfect, but adequate for a $10 product in my opinion. Other positive aspects of this product are that it is very easy to clean, and the tab in the center for cracking the egg is very useful. One recommendation I have is that you poke the yolk with a toothpick before cooking so it doesn't explode in the microwave.

very happy
using it now and works great. Great things, the lid egg from blowing up in micro, the cups lift out if you can't fork egg out to make removal easier. The timing is different. After 1rst time mico is hot for second cook + container is hot hot so it's a guessing game. But it does make making pooched eggs much easier. I got 2 so I could make 4 eggs at 1 time. Ok this is later. I made 2 doz eggs yesterday. It made 4 ea 2 cup bowels of what we call 3 min. eggs. There soft yellow runny with some butter smashed up. It worked great but ya have to play with cook time. I did 1:10 1rst cook let stand 2 min than cooked 1 more min. let stand than till U get what U want 10-15 seconds. I did have 1 egg blow but the lid did a great job of containing it saving mess in mico. What really impressed me was the clean up. I put in warm soapy water about 15 min. and it all just wiped out. I used a brush ta get in slats of egg holder but it all just fell off. I see these lasting a very long time so if I buy again it will be for my son cause his 3 girls luv Pa pa's 3 min eggs.

Doesn't Work!
I tried numerous times to get a nicely cooked poached egg. The yolk was hard and the white part of the egg runny. Will not recommend.

Not that great
I've been using the egg poacher for 2 weeks daily. The results are less than mediocre. I played around with the boiling tone, using different water level and using water/vinegar combined. The egg whites never cooked as fast as the egg yolkes. Therefore I have either hard boiled egg yolks or undercooked egg whites.

Instructions - rinstructions?????
No instructions !!!!???, so read these reviews. 2 table spoons of water seems O.K. - maybe less. 3 is far too much. 65 seconds eventually produced my preferred hard centre. Small time increments after an initial 40 secs, ensure you obtain the egg you wanted, without an explosion. Easy cleaning is the big advantage, only if you happen to happen across the timing and amount of water - otherwise you gain no time as it is spent cleaning the container and microwave - or trying it for a few more seconds ... to find optimum timing ... A pain - all for the sake of a table of times and power + how much water.

Trial and error will result in success
When I first received it, I was frustrated. My first attempt resulted in the egg exploding. However, now I am thrilled. You just have to work with it with your microwave. Mine ended up being about 90 seconds at 60% power. I like the eggs pretty well done though. Good luck.

works well and easy

Well made, and amazingly does the job. You may need to adjust your amount of time. I have a 1000w microwave and must reduce cook time to 60 seconds. So easy and fast! Plus a breeze to wash, dries quickly too!

The eggs cook up just fine, very little sticky cleanup of the device.

I have had many different egg poachers over the years, and this one by far is the best one yet. Cooks two eggs to perfection every time. Clean up is a breeze with the silicone cup holders. I have a 950 watt microwave and 65-seconds on high seems to be the best setting for my amazing poached eggs. Well worth the money.
