Purchased these for trip to Europe this June. Knew I might have trouble sleeping from flight from NY to Rome (11pm) I don't take sleeping pills as a rule - maybe melatonin from time to time. But read about these and sounded like as an occasional sleep aid, they work well. I took them about 1 hour after take off on a 9 hour flight. Seemed to take about 1 to 1.5 hours to kick in and did a pretty good job. I got some "decent" sleep for being in a coach seat on a wide body. Woke up feeling ok - no medicated fog feeling. Also took them once in hotel room - 1/2 dose, and that worked well (one of the daughters had a stuffed nose and snored like a Grandpa! needed sleep. After that, bought earplugs. Anyway, recommend for long haul flight and if you just need to get sleep.

These are the only pills I use to help me sleep, highly recommend.

For me, personally, this product works wonders. Lately my sleep schedule has been messed up-- I'd sleep until noon and stay awake until 4am. It happens every summer--I treat myself to a few days of sleeping in to reward my year's hard work, and then it would spiral out of control until it was just habit. But I need to stop now that I'm in college and I have adulting to do. So I figured I'd use this once or twice to get me into bed at a reasonable time, so I'd wake up at a reasonable time. I took it at midnight, got in bed, and was out in half an hour. Which is insane. Because it normally takes me two hours to fall asleep. I woke up refreshed and I wasn't achey or groggy at all. I also gave two liquicaps to my roommate. She had only slept ten hours in the past four days due to excessive nightmares. She took it, knocked out, and slept for ten hours. Doubled her sleep count instantly! She said she didn't necessarily wake up refreshed, but that she was rested, which is what she needed. Now, I know that this is the same thing as benadryl. Same ingredient. But honestly, the effects seem stronger with this. This is most likely due to the placebo effect--you think you're getting something tailored specifically to help you sleep. The packaging is nice--its purple night with stars everywhere!! So comforting. And then the liquid gels look fancy--they're small and purple. VERY easy to take. So when you get these, you think, yeah, these are gonna help me sleep. And then they do!! Because that's how powerful your mind is. Even when you KNOW its a placebo (and these technically aren't, since they DO have an ingredient in them), it works. So yeah, you can skip the whole moon and the zzz's and the stars, but when you swap it out for neon pink pills... you're taking away the placebo effect, which is why (I think, as a psychology student) these work so well. These would work well for the occasional night that you cant get to sleep for anything--the tossing and turning and worrying kind. Or when you need to fix your sleep schedule. Or when you need to stop dreaming as much.

I've purchased a stock of these (both a 24-capsule box from a local Rite-Aid and a 48-capsule box from Amazon) to help myself sleep in the short term since adjusting to my new night-shift warehouse job has exasperated my existing sleeplessness problems to a ridiculous extent. Happy to report that they've been doing well for me so far with no ill effects, by which I mean I've been able to assure myself a more consistent sleep through the night. Prior to taking these I've suffered very frequent abrupt wake-ups every few hours or so with the immediate thought that I need to check the time to make sure I haven't overslept, even though I have an alarm clock for that. I haven't had that problem since beginning to take ZzzQuil. While in the long term I intend to research herbal sleep aids and other solutions, this has served me well in stabilizing my sleep habits and assuring that I'm well enough rested for the rigors of ten-hour warehouse shifts. So color me a satisfied customer. One recommendation that I have for anyone suffering grogginess when trying out ZzzQuil is to try one of the alcohol-free varieties. If you're already taking LiquiCaps, then you're already taking alcohol-free ZzzQuil, but the bottled liquid is not alcohol-free unless the bottle states it is. The alcohol component may possibly make the sleep aid faster-acting but I've heard it results in increased grogginess upon waking up, and the immediate advice I was given when asking for recommendations for sleep aids was to make sure it was an alcohol-free version. Note that a single dose of ZzzQuil LiquiCaps is two capsules. The capsules are, however, very small and thin, making for an easy swallow.
