This workhorse is awesome!
I highly recommend. I’ve used it on our four vehicles 2018 BMW X5, 2013 BMW 535i, 2012 Toyota Highlander, and 2018 Ram Cummins. It diagnosis and allows users to troubleshoot codes by leading you to websites for parts, etc. It allows me to email my report to my BMW mechanic for repairs that I don’t feel comfortable repairing to obtain a preliminary repair estimate. This one frequently updates at no additional charge.

Excellent full sized scanner for the diy mechanic
So I’ve had the opportunity to test this unit along with a no name Amazon $25 unit as well as kingbolens more portable Bluetooth module that runs off an app on the phoneThis module has the ability to clear check engine lights as well as a lot of codes but it won’t clear absolutely everything. The items it can’t clear aren’t necessarily things people need to clear all the time though. You can refer to the list comparison between this unit and higher tier models for a comparison on fault code clearingSpeed wise this is much faster than the Bluetooth module but of course the Bluetooth module gets much more portability in return. When equipped with wifi you can access a lot of information on your fault codes in real time so that’s very helpfulI’ve had the opportunity to use this on:Infiniti g37Nissan 350zAcura rlxAcura rdxHonda crvPerformance was consistent with every car. As a bonus the module will charge itself when plugged into a port so that’s pretty coolOverall I’d recommend this for the guy who likes to work on stuff at home. The price is competitive considering how much comes with it. The Bluetooth module is priced similarly but that’s something I’d recommend moreso as a keep it in the car just in case tool.

My Hands-On Experience with the KINGBOLEN S500 OBD2 Scanner
As someone who loves working on cars, I’m always searching for tools that make diagnostics and maintenance easier. The KINGBOLEN S500 OBD2 Scanner has been a game-changer in my garage. Unlike the basic scanners I’ve used before, this one goes beyond just reading engine codes—it dives into ABS, SRS, Engine, and TCM diagnostics, making it a true 4-in-1 powerhouse. But what really sold me? The extra reset features. Oil reset, brake pad reset, ABS bleeding, SAS reset, and even AutoVIN to instantly scan my car’s VIN—this thing does a lot more than I expected. And with lifetime updates, I don’t have to worry about it becoming outdated. What I LoveComprehensive DiagnosticsMost OBD2 scanners just check engine codes, but this one lets me troubleshoot ABS and SRS issues—something I’ve struggled with in the past. I’ve already used it to diagnose a tricky ABS warning light, saving me a trip to the shop.Essential Reset FunctionsI do most of my own car maintenance, and the reset functions are a huge plus. The ABS bleeding feature alone has already paid for itself—I recently used it on a brake job, and not having to take my car to a mechanic was a relief.User-Friendly InterfaceI’ve had scanners with clunky, hard-to-navigate screens, but the KINGBOLEN S500 has a bright, easy-to-read display. The buttons are intuitive, and I was able to start diagnosing right out of the box without much hassle.Portability & Lifetime UpdatesThis scanner is compact enough to toss in my trunk, and knowing that I won’t have to pay for updates in the future makes it feel like a solid investment.A Few DrawbacksNo tool is perfect, and this one has a couple of things to keep in mind:• No Advanced ECU Coding – If you need deep-level programming, you’ll have to look elsewhere. But for DIY repairs and resets, this scanner covers all the essentials.• Limited Compatibility for Older or Rare Cars – I haven’t had any issues, but I’ve read that some older or more niche models may not be fully supported. It’s worth double-checking before buying.• No Wireless Connectivity – Plugging it in for updates isn’t a huge deal, but I do wish it had Bluetooth or Wi-Fi for convenience. So far, the accuracy has been spot on. I’ve tested it on my daily driver and a project car, and it’s always given me reliable, real-time data. The AutoVIN feature is also a time-saver, quickly identifying my car without me having to manually enter anything. This product has earned a permanent spot in my toolbox. It’s a solid investment for car owners who want a reliable, versatile scanner without breaking the bank. If you’re a DIY mechanic or just want to stay on top of your vehicle’s health, this scanner is absolutely worth considering.Who Should Get This?-Car owners who want a quick and efficient way to diagnose common issues.-DIY mechanics who need a tool that handles multiple systems and resets.-Professionals looking for an affordable yet powerful diagnostic tool.

Work as Design
Light was on, scan my system, repair problem, and clear the code. Cost of this scanner and the part I was able to save up to $200 if not more. The only issue I had was yo first turn it on you do and will need to connect to WIFI. Lucky I had my cell phone with me to use as a hot spot. Then I had to restart it a couple of times before it went to a update screen to update the system (s). Recommend to only do the system program first. Restart and make sure it working. Connect to a vehicle and check out the features this scanner has to afford. After you have the time then do the updates of the different vehicle type. This will take some time. The manual for this scanner is very vague, so you you really need to play around and see what feature it has. I see people stating that it not bi-direction to be able to operate switches, solenoids. If you need that then yes this scanner doesn't have those feature. You will need to be looking at the $600 scanner for that. Most switches or solenoids can be manual check or operated if you know what your are doing. Yes you can go cheaper but you get what you pay for with this scanner.
