Works, nice size, odd pinout
The pinouts in the product photo are not correct. The actual pinouts are 1 is DCD; 2 is TXD; 3 is RXD; 4 is DTR; 5 is GND; 6 is DSR; 7 is RTS; 8 is CTS; 9 is RI. A regular serial cable plugged into this will only get you TxD, RxD, and GND. I wish they could swap DTS/DTR and RTS/CTS so that in my terminal program all the data channels would work with a standard serial cable.I like the small form factor. I'm using this attached to raspberry pi so I can access the pi from a laptop. I added a db9 (de9) to rj45 adapter to convert this to standard yost (cisco rollover) serial cable. Plus I put the pins in the correct spot. It works well and for the price it is good. A 3 to 6 in. usb extension would be nice as this adapter is a bit thick. I can still fit another usb near it, but I find it easier with a usb extension.
