Great item, recommended
This bracket is made from ABS plastic and is very well made, with proper metal bushes for the 3.5" drive mounting holes. The mounting holes for the 2.5" SSD line up accurately with the drive, and are properly countersunk for the included mounting screws. The SDD simply clicks into place on the small PCB which takes the SATA connections from the SDD and repeats them exactly where a 3.5" HDD would have them. This means that, once you've fastened your new SDD into this bracket, it can be reinserted into your system using exactly the same mounting hardware that your old HDD used (existing screws or mounting caddy), and your existing SATA cable will reach the connections without any stretching or bending. For systems with tight installations and exact-length cables, this is really useful. This is a well-designed and well-made item, and I liked it so much, I bought another for my backup SSD drive :)

Excellent, easy to house housing, but finned design implies 'cooling'
Bought this to allow installation of a Crucial SSD in my 2013 iMac, which was suffering failure of the spinning disc after almost eight years of use - fair enough. This is a tricky operation so the least fuss, the better, and the Orico adaptor is not only incredibly cheap to buy, it's very easy to use, providing a solid and secure mounting without any strange holes or gaps. For that reason I did think the chunky finned design might be aluminium for cooling, but it's engineering plastic. That may be a problem for higher performance drives, but I haven't noticed any issues with my installation. It would be particularly suitable for older desktop PCs where the drive housings are enough of a pain to reach that trying to balance an unusual size carrier would be no fun at all. The provided screws save worrying about retaining the ones you have, too. Stuck my iMac's screen back on happy with this part of the installation, and it looked tidy too!

Finally gave my old SSD a new home and lease of life.........
I had an old 2.5-inch SSD lying around and wanted to use it in my desktop without faffing about, so this adaptor bracket was perfect. It’s really solid and the metal feels properly sturdy, so the drive sits snugly in a 3.5-inch bay without wobbling. Screws lined up perfectly, and installation was quick... I didn’t need to improvise or worry about it sliding around. In practice, it’s very handy. I fitted the SSD into my PC alongside my main drive, and now I’ve got extra storage for photos and video projects without buying a new drive. It’s simple, practical, and does exactly what it says on the tin. Overall, if you’ve got spare 2.5-inch drives gathering dust, or doing an upgrade from an old 3.5" HDD to a 2.5" SSD this little bracket lets you put them to work in a desktop quickly and safely. Solid build, straightforward to use, and makes the whole setup feel neat and secure. It has thick heat fins, albeit that SSD's do not run as hot as old drives, but any heat dissipation is a good thing.... I have seen people lash SSD's into a desktop, but it is worth spending a few pounds to do a proper job, keeping everything secure.
