I was a bit skeptical of the product and price point, but decided to give it a try. I have used it in many holes in different types of soil and it works very consistently. The three lights and series of beeps save you much digging due to pinpoint accuracy. There have been several times when I thought "there's nothing in that clod of dirt," but the Ricomax kept indicating there was . . . and . . . there was! The handy carrying case saves you from having to stuff the pinpointer in your pocket - it slides in and out easily and stays put at your side until needed. The hard plastic shell is easily cleaned, but clearly works even though encrusted with mud, dirt, and grime! I highly recommend this product.

Works great! Great for use with metal detecting! It really saves time in digging! Once you start digging after metal has been detected with you detector,you can hover this around the hole you have dug and around the dirt pile. It saves valuable time so that you are not digging in the wrong spots. It is very easy to use and very accurate! Really good that it has a four year warranty! Well worth the investment!

I received the pinpointer metal detector probe a couple of days ago...I've tested it on several different types of metal (iron, coins, lead, etc...) as my interest consist of Civil War relics. It does it's job well in my testing (not field tested yet). The proximity notification it's vibration and aural beep and lights. That is to say as you place the probe closer to the metal object you get more lights, vibrations, etc... I do wish there was an option to disable the vibration feature to save battery... It is far more accurate than just a metal detector alone; which of course will save on time and work. The direction sheet states it's not waterproof, so don't plan to get it wet. Overall if it's durable, a great value.

First, this Pinpointer was really easy to set up. I mean really easy. Battery goes in and you're ready to go with one press of the button. I wanted to try it out so I first put a paper clip under a blanket and it sensed it. Then to the outside I went. It takes my novice metal detector hobby skills to another level because it makes searching so much easier and way more fun. As far as I can see, it's built well and should hold up to all types of terrain. I'm glad I bought it and excited to use it more. Oh, one more thing, I used the pinpointer for finding nails in a piece of wood I'm refinishing. It found several buried nails and probably saved my table saw blade.

I bought this pinpointer for my son to use. We metal detect often as a family and try to get everyone involved. We already have a Garrett AT Pro pinpointer and this one is very comparable and a lot less money! It comes with a belt loop attachment so you can put it on your belt for hands free carrying. The lights on the side of the pinpointer let you know how deep the item is you are trying to find and the sound gets faster the closer you are to the item. This pinpointer is easy to use and seems to be quite accurate. The only disadvantage to this pinpointer compared to the Garrett is it is not waterproof. This is a must buy for anyone who is just starting or a pro to metal detecting!

The product works good. It is NOT however, "waterproof." The main description at the top of the items picture states very clearly, "waterproof probe." The add is very cleverly described in the description section as being and I quote, "Paticial Waterproof." Its unique design means you can use it at the everywhere.... What????? Particial??? Did you mean partially, or Practically??? And use it at the Everywhere??? Now either there is a few typos, or someone is trying to represent an ability that is not present. I still figured it was probably just a typo. When I got the product. It comes with a small piece of paper that states this product is NOT waterproof/resistant. So don't represent your product in the picture as in the water. Plain and simple. It is a Very Good product otherwise. I just need it to be WATERPROOF. Fairly good Customer Service though.

I was waiting for my pinpointer I only had one warm day to use it and it came right on time the day they said it would. My old pinpointer another brand quit vibrating. I am really surprised at how sensitive the Ricomax pointer is. I went out the first day and used it and it is a lot better than my old one, it starts picking up a metal signal about 4 inches away from its target and the three light led makes it a game changer for me . I love it, the closer you get to your target the more lights come on when all three lights light up your there.And it also makes it a better tool when you dig past your target the led display lets You know you know you are past your target and to what side to dig. It saves time and digging I love it and would recommend this product to anyone 5 stars

Bought this for my daughters 10th birthday to metal detect around our river. Her twin got the full size detector and his came with a "bonus pinpointer." We had a great comparison to write this review Pros: -Longer distance -Better locator -Shows how far down (circle indicate depth to 3 inches) -Mini Light for dark -Tip waterproof Cons: - not entirely waterproof -No silent button -When placed in case you have to shut off or it goes off as it detects the metal in the belt case Overall great pinpointer, reasonable cost.
