Casio CT-X5000 Premium Keyboard Pack with Stand, AC Adapter and Headphones

I researched $500.00 -$1000 keyboards for 3 mths before I purchased the Casio CTX 5000. The piano, E piano, organ and string sounds are top notch both for stage and studio (I use it for both). I love the feal of the wieghted keys, the buttons are soft to touch. The midi, recording and other features are easy to grasp and the "online manual" on Youtube is a great resource for learning operation if you don't like to read a bunch of technical stuff. Again you may listen to this keyboard online but when you get it home you will enjoy the warm tones and have many "wow very cool" moments. I'm extremely happy with ctx 5000 at this time under $500. You just can't beat it. Alot of bang for your $$$.

The Casio CTX5000 is a great keyboard in many ways. Casio makes some really nice instruments such as the CTX5000. I love the semi weighted keys, and the customizations is practically endless with advanced features you would find in professional studio keyboards that cost thousands of dollars. Despite the wonderful selection of sounds, and other features, there is a somewhat steep learning curve in getting around the different parameters. I grew up with synths that had a million knobs and sliders. Now, many of the features they controlled are buried in the menu's of the CTX. I would highly recommend this keyboard.

Amazing sound here. It's hard to find anything in this price range that's sounds this wonderful. Pretty much surpasses any 'keyboard arranger' for the price. On board speakers are great, connect to any custom soundstage of your own too. The rhythm section on it's own is very enjoyable and realistic. Best arranger for this budget. Has many lovable rhythms, more than any other in it's class. Have fun.

Great keyboard with the best speakers in its category, and has so many functions. But realize that it has 61 keys as advertised, and keys are not graded, so not optimal for learning piano. Great for travel and for having so may realistic tones.

Voice Quality

I'll start by saying that I am happy with this keyboard. It brings a quality of sound and feature set normally reserved for higher cost arrangers down to a entry/mid range price. I intended primarily to use it as a sound module but I've ended up playing it directly and experimenting with the auto accompaniments and rhythms on quite a few occasions. Physically it is about what you'd expect. The fairly large speakers make for a slightly heavier keyboard but it's still light. The plastic construction isn't the most robust but it feels in no real danger of breaking in transport or use. The ports feel robust enough and the buttons are all functional and respond as expected. The keys have a shiny surface and a slightly rounded profile which isn't my favourite but is usable. In terms of connectivity I had a sustain pedal and an expression pedal connected. It does not have DIN MIDI (usb only) so I'm using it with a Kenton USB MiDI host to integrate with the rest of my gear, which works fine, but costs about 1/3 the price of the keyboard vs a tiny cost to include when manufacturing. There is a headphone out and a pair of 1/4" master outs (connecting only the left results in mono. The headphone out has a retractable trim pot which is nice to see. The line outs don't have a trim, I which means their level reflects the master volume control only. This is an annoyance and means, when on the internal speakers, I need to turn the volume down (I sometimes just use the expression pedal. The key action is acceptable but the keys feel a little clacky in use and the velocity response isn't that smooth and there is no aftertouch. The pitch bend wheel is very small and has a fairly big dead zone in the middle making it hard to use smoothly. Instead of a mod wheel you get a modulation button which is of fairly limited use. The speakers are surprisingly good and project well. Overall it's about what you expect for the money in this regard. As for the sounds, they are a mixed bag. Some decent piano and epiano are a good start alongside some surprisingly usable guitar, strings, brass and reed instruments. A few of the samples are questionable and occasionally have very jarring velocity switching, but for the most part I found myself pleasantly surprised. The rhythms are also decent with fun accompaniment and a pretty big variety. The ability to record your own accompaniment is also great. In actual use, it can be hard to access all the features. They tend to be hidden behind menus and long presses. Combined with the very limited display, navigating all but the direct features on the panel can be frustrating. For my use case, it's mostly a multi timrbal sound source for use under MiDi control and in that respect it works well and the interface annoyances don't inhibit it's usability. Overall I'll say I'm happy with the keyboard. It sounds pretty good and is fairly usable. Given that the CT x700 has the same sound source and a much lower price, users looking for an entry level keyboard will likely be very happy. This keyboard is also good value but the lack of DIN midi is a little frustrating given the price increment over the lower models. In any case it's still hard to beat and I'd recommend the CTx range to others looking for a basic keyboard with a decent range of usable sounds.

First right off the bat is that the sound engine is pristine. the styles and acoustic samples sound very realistic including articulation functionality. Love the styles function button for accompaniment. This keyboard is meant for somebody who likes to tweak the factory sounds to their liking when learning. Casio is conservative on how they edited their sounds when putting it into their library (I.e. organs, electric pianos & pads); forcing the user to edit the sounds to their liking that can be painstaking, unlike Korg & Roland sounds are perfect out of the box. Another thing I did not like about the keyboard that forced me to return it was its confusing sequencer and recording functionality that requires too much manual editing by consistently pushing the shift, function arrows and exit buttons to get in and out if the menu features.

I have the CTX500 for 5 months. I learn how to play keyboard 3 years ago starting with a Casio LK 280 which is good but the sound is not great. After couple of years, I want better sound, better rhythm and more features and I bought the CTX500. I was not disappointed. It is heavy because of the speaker. The sound is terrific. The control is similar to the LK280 and I don't have to read the manual and can figure out most of the control on the keyboard. The only thing I don't like is that several keys made clanky sound(like the LK280) if hit close to the back of the key. I believe they keyboard is good for beginner too for once you can play better, you will want more from a keyboard and you will find there are a lot of feature in this keyboard for you to expand and you won't have to buy another keyboard. I especially like the accompaniment and auto accompaniment. The auto accompaniment will play a chord automatically and all you have to do is to play the melody with your right hand and it sound like a orchestra. Youtube has 7 tutorial by Casio about this keyboard. I will suggest to anyone want to buy this keyboard to watch those tutorial which tells you what this keyboard can do. Instead of reading the heavy manual, I watch the Casio Tutorial in Youtube instead to learn new features about this keyboard. Youtube also has 2 parts that show you all the rhythms that comes with this keyboard. I am happy with my purchase. The price is great for all the features this keyboard has.

Great sound which doesn't really come through on the you tube videos. They are very good for learning all about the Casio ctx5000. With 800 voices, you are sure to find the perfect instrument for your music. I highly recommend this keyboard.

Very nice instrument with amazing sound and features . The only thing I wish that the headphones jack was located in the front and not in the back as my keyboard is standing tight against the wall and it’s hard to plug in and out. I know there is an option to enable speakers even with headphones in but it is a little bit of hassle.
