Until a few months ago, I always bought packs of disks from a major brand; my shop went through quite a bit of abrasive sheets ("sandpaper") and typically there was false economy in getting less expensive brands of wet/dry (the main paper we used). But then, I tried a few boxes of import sanding disks, and have been very pleased with them. As with the others I've recently tried, these were die cut to the correct size, with the 8 holes lined up properly. The fuzzy back adheres exactly like you want it to—it stays on without slipping, but is easy to change. The abrasive in both grades is very evenly distributed over the surface, and appears to be a good grade; in any case, it performs really well. The grit keeps its sharpness for a reasonably long time, and it breaks down fairly consistently. With how easy changing paper on these hook and loop sanders is, I've taken to keeping "just broken in" disks for when I need less aggressive cutting, but without the more frequent "dust fills" that finer grades can get. (If that makes sense.) These came with non-specific packaging; they were in a zip lock bag. I have no problem with that—In ways I prefer it to having more trash to throw away.

My boyfriend periodically does sanding projects at his work bench. He mentioned he needed some 5" orbital sander discs with a finer grit because he had only one 120-grit left that came with his Mikita sander. These Bielmeier Sandpaper 80-Grit and 120-Grit for 5 Inch Sander arrived at a good time. He wanted to finish sanding our new Acacia wood cutting board that had a burn ring from a very hot pan. He finally used up his Mikita sanding disc and is glad he has the 5" Bielmeier discs as spares. He was impressed and pleased this set came with 20 of each of the two grit sizes (80 & 120). He said this was a great deal at the current price of $8.00 for 40 discs. A Big Box store would charge almost twice that much for half the quantity of these two grit sizes.

As a professional wood craftsman, I use a lot of sanding discs, so I was interested to see how well this sandpaper would hold up. The package that I ordered had 20 discs of 80-grit and 20 discs of 120-grit sandpaper. These grits are my go-to grits for the initial finishing of wood because they prepare the wood project for the finer grits that I spend less time on, so these grits have to do a lot more work. I was a little shocked when I opened the shipped package to how the sanding discs had been packed. All 40 sheets were in one resealable bag and that is perfectly fine, but the way that they were placed in the bag wasn't fine. The sheets were separated into groups of 4-6 sheets and each 4-6 sheet grouping was facing another group of 4-6 sheets. In other words, there were 10 sheets or 5 grouped pairs of sheets that were in contact and rubbing each other for the entirety of their packed life. Sandpaper is gritty - place two gritty objects face-to-face and then ship them...bad things happen to the grit face. Needless to say, there was a pile of grit in the bottom of the resealable bag. All the sheets are still usable, but I'm sure that the grit rating and usable life of the affected sheets has been diminished because of this careless oversight. When I went to attach these to my random orbital sander, the hook and loop fasteners made a secure attachment. A sheet of 80-grit paper lasted for several hours of intermittent use on a series of oak boards, after which the grit was gone in several places. This seems to me to be about the usual use that I get out of a sheet of 80-grit, usually go through a couple per project. These sheets should do well and I'd get them again in the future if the price is right.

These are strong enough to hold up to my heavy hand but gentle enough not leave any swirling. We got this set to try and can say they just as good as the big box stores packages we've been buying.... but at a better price. They don't clog and they glide smoothly across multiple types of surfaces. We use paper all day long and I've had to swap out less since using these. With multiple grits it's a win win here. The sandpaper performed just as well as any I've used. For hook and loop attachment it was better than some name brands I've used on a mouse palm sander. It lines up nicely on my orbital sander, to catch a lot of debris in the dust collector. I compared it against another brand using it to clean/polish metal it did a good job and held up well. Another huge plus was the amount of each grit it came with. Very pleased with the quality and amount.
