Bandai are definitely banking purely off nostalgia with this release. Great device with all the charm of the 90’s devices, and admittedly a very pretty paint job’s, only let down by poor build quality. Sure the originals weren’t great or anything, but the plastic of these devices feels brittle and cheap even compared to the Digimon rerelease. Another thing of note is the way the battery compartment attaches to this device means it isn’t flush with the rest of the device and is kinda sharp. Late to the party here, but I was super excited when I saw this release, especially after seeing so many videos of people collecting this Gen, to ultimately be let down. My last Tamagotchi was a Connection and those things were made with such care, and attention to detail, out of far better materials. It would be good to one day see a return to that. Please Bandai, tell me you’re reinvesting the money from this into something cool like a Morino, Ocean, Devilitchi or Connections rerelease.

The Tamagotchi Original - Sky (Updated Logo) brings back the charm of the iconic virtual pet with a refreshed design. This version stays true to its roots, offering a simple yet engaging experience of raising and caring for a digital pet. Tested over a week, it provided a fun and nostalgic way to relive the 90s while introducing the concept to a new generation. Pros: ✅ Classic Gameplay: Retains the original mechanics of feeding, cleaning, and entertaining your virtual pet. ✅ Updated Design: The "Sky" color with the updated logo adds a fresh and stylish aesthetic. ✅ Portable and Lightweight: Small size makes it easy to carry around, just like the original. ✅ Interactive and Engaging: Encourages responsibility and time management in a fun way. ✅ Perfect Nostalgia: Appeals to fans of the original Tamagotchi while being simple enough for kids to enjoy. Cons: ❌ Limited Features: No new gameplay additions compared to the original, which may feel outdated for some. ❌ Short Battery Life: Requires frequent battery changes with heavy use. Performance and Usability: The Tamagotchi functioned smoothly, with responsive buttons and clear sound effects. The gameplay is simple but addictive, making it fun to check on your pet throughout the day. However, the screen size and graphics remain basic, in line with the retro design, which may not appeal to users accustomed to modern handheld games. Comparison: Compared to modern virtual pet apps and devices, the Tamagotchi Original focuses on simplicity and nostalgia rather than advanced features or graphics. For those seeking a straightforward, screen-free experience, it holds its own charm. Who Is This For?: This Tamagotchi is perfect for nostalgic adults looking to revisit their childhood and for parents introducing a piece of retro tech to their kids. It’s also a great gift for fans of simple, low-maintenance digital games. Conclusion: The Tamagotchi Original - Sky successfully recreates the magic of the original virtual pet with a fresh design. While it doesn’t offer new features, its charm lies in its simplicity and timeless appeal. It’s a fun and engaging throwback that’s perfect for fans of all ages.

I bought this as a Christmas gift when I was reminded of how fun and cool it was to have one as a kid. The toy is actually boring. You can quickly give it food to fill it up, bath when you see poop, and only has one guessing game to keep it happy. Not sure what I was expecting but my daughter has a bitzee and prefers that because the characters change, it’s more interactive and has different games.
