Great Little Charger for Alaska's Harsh Weather
Alaskan winters are very hard on all equipment batteries. I use this to charge up batteries in my snow-plowing truck, my 40' MCI bus, my Bobcat and a variety of car batteries. With a 2 amp charge, (and a feature that's built-in to ramp down when charged) it is doesn't overcharge the battery even when plugged in for days or weeks at a time. It's works perfectly and I've been using one for nearly a year now. Just ordered another one for my daughter's car in winter-time. Great product, well built and a great price.---UPDATE---I've been so pleased with the two chargers I own, that I've ordered a third one. They work in the coldest weather, in rain or snow, and the best part is they will not overcharge (and thus ruin) your batteries like so many other chargers will. 12/23/19 UPDATE: I liked these so much I was going to buy another one today, however I see the price is now $38 which is more than DOUBLE the price I paid for the exact same item only 18 months ago. Cmon Amazon, that is just plain wrong.

Very nice, compact unit!
I purchased one of these a couple of years ago to keep my motorhome chassis battery charged, as it sits for months at a time during the winter months. It’s a worry-free charger, and may be left connected to the battery without danger of overcharging. It’s supposedly waterproof, although I have it plugged into the lighter socket inside the motorhome, so that’s not a concern for me. It has performed flawlessly over the last couple of years, and because I’m so pleased with it, I just purchased a second one to leave connected to my boat batteries over this winter. I may ever get another to use with a second car that only gets driven every few months. I would recommend this unit to anybody that’s looking for a no-maintenance trickle charger.

Worked Better Than Expected, Seems Sturdy, Reliable, And Charged Nearly Fully Dead Battery On Yamaha WaveRunner Overnight
I had gone to NY for a few weeks but it ended up being an almost 2 months long trip. My Yamaha WaveRunner was left unused (with some electronics and security devices that do use a bit of battery over time). My alarm system alerted me that the battery was at 10% charge but I was still unable to make it back to Florida. When I got back, sure enough, there was not a peep from the battery when I tried to use the vessel. I was wondering if my battery was in that "so discharged that this charger won't recharge it" condition, which several people have pointed out to. I left the charger plugged in with its sturdy clamps on the jet ski battery, placed the charger in the footwell, plugged it into my shore power, and left it overnight. I am a late night person and went back to my dock a few times during that 12 hours period and the charging lights did not seem to show that my battery had been charged up. So, it was still a bit of not knowing. But, fortunately for me, the charger had fully charged up my battery and I have brought the charger inside for safe keeping. It is good to know that it worked as I needed it to. I would prefer to give it 4.5 stars but that is not an option so I am giving it 4. The reason I cannot give it 5 stars is that it is annoying to know that this higher power higher priced item comes with fewer accessories for charging options than their own cheaper models. Additionally, maybe I missed it in the Amazon description, but they should make it very clear that it will not charge fully drained batteries. I was lucky not to have that situation but it would have been a time and energy (no pun intended) wasting exercise to leave it on all night and day, still have a dead battery, and then be calling Amazon for a return. Lastly, and this is a big user experience "UX" design issue, just having a solid LED for 12 hours tells you nothing whether it is just putting out voltage to the battery or if the battery is actually accepting it (e.g. a blinking LED the rate of blinking to indicate how much charge/current is flowing into charging the battery) would have made it a lot easier to know. Otherwise, I am glad I got it, glad it arrived on time, and charged my battery. I will probably move it into my car trunk to keep with me when I travel and if I ever drain that battery. Hope you will find this review and opinion Helpful! Imran Anwar imran.tv

Nice battery charger/Maintainer
Got this charger due to several facts, water proof, able to plug into cigar lighter, plus it's small and compact... and so far it works great meets all of my needs my car has high drain cameras and insurance dongle that plugs into the obd 2 port and will drain the battery if not started every couple of days this keeps up with those two items running all the time so far I'm satisfied with this charger plus I don't have to open the hood and connect my old charger up to the battery just run the cord through the door sill and plug it in make sure its charging and leave it... and since I usually only go for short trips the battery has been drained by not driving enough so if you have similar problems this will solve all those problems as long as your electrical system is all good IE battery and alternator...

Definitely weatherproof!
I just purchased another one of these (2A model) to supplement the two I purchased two years ago. I use them to maintain charge on my lawn tractor (stored outside with no cover) and my seldom used classic cars (parked inside). The one exposed to the weather is a little sun faded after two years, but it still works great. They reliably keep my batteries topped up without worry. They'll also charge a car battery from dead, but it will take several hours to get enough charge to start the vehicle. It will charge motorcycle batteries and powersport equipment batteries in about 4-5 hours. I like the fact that the charger comes with clamps, ring terminals and a cigar lighter plug - so you have multiple options on how you connect it. I installed the ring terminal adapter on the tractor and the cars. Simple LED indicators tell you when it has power, when it is charging and when it is in maintenance mode.

Good quality trickle charger, used to charge my boat battery that was left uncharged during the off season. Left it on to charge the battery for 24hours, battery was good to go and boat started up no issues. Should have purchased it earlier to keep the battery charged during off season, live and learn. No need to disconnect the battery while charging in most cases. Low voltage so you don't have to worry about it as much and has built in safety features. Just expect to leave it on for 24hrs if trying to charge a dead/almost dead battery; that's to be expected with a trickle charger. Has a built in magnet as well for easy mounting on vehicle if needed which was a neat surprise. There's a couple of models so just make sure you get the amps needed for your job. I purchased the 0-2AMP, 12 Volt battery Black+Decker model.

If you're going to leave a car battery (or other lead-acid battery) in the cold for an extended period, a maintenance charge is a must to prevent the battery from premature failure due to self-discharge. With this unit, my vintage car started up on the first try after months of winter storage in an unheated garage. The charger includes battery clips (a little small but they work OK), ring terminals (I'll be fastening these to my battery posts before next winter), and a cigarette lighter plug. Each of these three connection leads connect to the charger using a rugged, polarized automotive connector. The charger unit is about the size of a thick paperback. It's light but it feels quite rugged. With its magnetized back and protruding rubber corners, it effectively holds itself in place on a car's body, even on a sloping fender, without scratching the paint.

Well built and has lasted for years. Not sure they make them anymore.

Every spring as I begin to ready my lawn tractor for service, I spend too much time jumping and running the tractor to charge the battery after it discharges over the winter months in storage. Last season, I'd finally had enough and decided to grab one of these trickle chargers from Black & Decker. A couple of weeks before I knew I'd have to cut the grass for the first time, I just pulled the battery and connected it to this unit. When it was time to cut, I dropped the battery in the tractor and had an entire season without a single jump start. For ~$30 this was a no brainer solution to a mildly annoying problem. Recommended.

I was never able to find out how smart this charger is. I'm hoping it monitors and is not just a trickle charger. The instructions don't speak about a monitor function. They call it a maintainer/charger but I'm not sure it operates like a Battery Tender. When fully charged, the light stays green but you never know if it is always applying a charge or whether it waits until the battery needs a top up. So far so good but I'm not comfortable leaving it hooked up all winter (but many YouTube reviews talk about leaving their boat battery hooked up all winter.)
