Ridgid Genuine OEM R840087 18V Hyper Lithium-Ion 4AH Single Battery

People are complaining that this battery isn't covered by the factory warranty, and it isn't. The seller only offers the standard Amazon 30 day warranty. The fact is, this is a good price for an OEM battery and chances are it will last a long time. If you use it on a daily basis, chances are, any problems it is going to have will happen in that 30 days. If you want the factory warranty, buy this battery from an authorized seller. If you want an OEM battery at a good price, buy it from here and take your chances. Weigh your options.

So far, these batteries are working better than expected. When I pay less for non OEM batteries, I'm somewhat skeptical. In this case I'm quite pleased so far. They last a long time (haven't actually measured) or it appears to me since I've replaced my original batteries with these. The originals surely were not holding a full charge as long towards there end of life. No problems . . . very happy.

Great battery pack for my old 18V Rigid tool kit. These were an upgrade for me from the heavy and awkward NiCd packs. Long lasting and light battery with a charge meter readout on the pack. Cheaper than going to Home Depot - would highly recommend ordering with Amazon Prime.

I just received my new 18V 4AH battery that I used today for the first time with a Rigid Orbital Sander. It was a pleasure to use. In comparison to the battery that came with my sander, the 18V 4AH battery was much more powerful and lasted much longer before needing a recharge. The 18V 1.5 AH battery that came with my sander was virtually useless. The sander would only operate for about 5 to 7 minutes before the battery died. This smaller battery worked ok in my drill, but it just doesn't have the necessary power that the 4AH battery has. So far, a good purchase and the battery cost much less than the 4AH batteries sold by Home Depot.

Product arrived without retail packaging, contrary to the seller website. Without proof of purchase from the retail packaging (UPC code), RIDGID will not allow you to register the product for the manufacturer's 3-year warranty. Batteries do fail prematurely sometimes, so you are taking a risk going without a warranty. The battery appears new and genuine from the OEM. Since I'm returning it, I didn't test it on any power tools. Oct 2015 Update: After the CEO of 3rd Venue reached out to me directly, I decided to keep the battery. He said that they don't have an official warranty program but "If I say I will replace your battery any time in the next 3 years, you can count on it, and take it to the bank :-)". I have his email, his company has his email on their server and Amazon has it on their server. So I didn't return the battery. I've been using it for 5 months now and have to say that it has performed flawlessly. While I don't have a 3 year manufacturer's warranty, I do have the CEO's promise backed in writing. When you consider all that and the price, you have a winner and 5 stars.

What was I thinking buying a battery like this online? We all know that buying these types of batteries online can have some downfalls. For me, the biggest concern is not knowing if I am receiving an actual OEM battery or some cheap knock-off. The battery I received was no doubt an OEM Ridgid battery. It fits perfectly with no slop and securely "clicks" into place. Another thing to worry over is how long your newly purchased battery will hold a charge. Yet again, the battery I received held a charge a lot longer than I expected. If you are debating to buy this battery then I would say to go ahead and purchase it. Before buying this battery online I was worried that I was throwing away my money for a junk battery. After using the battery all fears were gone and would have no issues purchasing this again.

I like the quality of rigid products but would never have bought them off Amazon had I known I could NOT register them for the lifetime service agreement, so I'd advise purchasing them from Home Depot Online otherwise it is a waste of money.

Very happy with the battery. Be advised that the Rigid lifetime warranty is not available when not purchased from their recognized dealers like Home Depot.
