However, our cells are regularly disrupted by the external environment. During cell division, the replication of the genetic heritage is thus incapable of finalizing correctly the reproduction of the ends of the DNA and their protective telomeres wear out. Thus, during our lifetime, we can see a gradual shortening of the telomeres of our cells. When telomers can no longer protect DNA, it degrades during cell divisions, causing cell death. At the same time, our tissues, made of cells, age and the organs function worse.
