This product works well. It has a thick honey-like consistency and smells really nice. It holds well (I have 4b hair with thin edges) and causes a nice ripple pattern in my hair when it's layed down in a ponytail. It does not get hard so if you are looking for a super hold, I don't think this will do the trick. It only leaves a build up when you keep reapplying it over and over daily without washing it out after a few days. Unlike many other gels that work best when hair is wet, I feel like this gel works best on damp or dry hair. I've never tried it as a curl activator for a "wash & go" though. I've only used it to "lay" my hair. I don't even have to tie it down with a scarf afterward. Just apply, and go (scarf may be required for 4c hair though). I would recommend this product.

I had tried several products prior to this to manage 'wirey grey' hairs growing in edges on my otherwise 'fine' curly hair, until this! I apply to wet hair, brush through, use fine tooth comb to banana clip for sleep - in the morning rewet any strays, recomb, let my hair almost completely dry then remove clip as finger fluff my hair. Works great!

This product is not working as well as I thought it would. It stated that it would be good for stubborn edges, with a super hold and perfect for Type 4 hair. Unfortunately, the hold is coming to other products that have used which aren't as effective. I love the Mane product but I am not pleased with this.

This stuff is amazing at holding back my edges, as long as my hair is dry and i tie it down with a scarf after that. If i don’t do one of those, my edges just pufff up

Not the same ingredients from when it launched by the original owner. This has been very hard to find since it was taken out of stores. I found and purchased it on Amazon in 2022. Just found it again in 2025 and was so excited. The first time I squeezed it on my finger the consistency was a lot thinner than it used to be. I still applied to my edges but it’s not the same. It used to be very thick and a firm hold. This is watery and lightweight. The ingredient they removed was the polymer. I’m so disappointed as I have not found anything as good yet.

This freeze gel is ahhhmazing!? I love it!? It really works!? It keeps ur hair slick, sleep & shiny all day!? Best freeze gel ever!?

I like the presentation, the scent, but there could be more moisturizing, and most of all, it's too pricy.
