What setting on back of speaker is best for a small room?

It depends on how far away from the wall the speakers are. The manual has picture based explanations of this.

I plan on mounting these on a wall. Do I need a shelf or do they have a mounting port on the bottom of the speaker?

There is no mount on the speakers and the wires come out the back, so sufficient space would be needed.
