I needed this for a guitar project and it was a great help.

It did the trick and I was able to drill the hole very near the top edge of a drawer (in order to put a lock on a file cabinet.) I was worried the bit might break through the thin edge of drawer at the top edge but it didn’t; it made a precise hole as needed.

I hesitated to buy this when I read the reviews mentioning dullness or poorly ground edges, but mine seems fine. I used it to cut some holes in several Ikea table tops so it was not cutting through hardwoods. Still the cuts were clean, and the bit still feels sharp as it was when I bought it. I bought another in a different size and it was similar so I would probably but this brand again if I needed a forstner bit. The roughness on the 2nd pic is due to a countersink bit I used after the forstner bit cut the hole, the forstner cut a clean hole but the material is the Ikea chipboard so it is difficult to get a clean cut.

The IRWIN MARPLES FORSTER FIT WAS ON IME DELIVERED. The project for which the Bit was purchased is complete and the Bit did its job very well and has maintained it sharp edge. I am very pleased with its performance.

Decent forstner bit, not quite as sharp as I was expecting but definitely not bad

I was struggling with a wood boring bit and hole saw bit trying to enlarge a 1" hole to 1.5". Neither of those bits would bite without some wood in the center to bite into. This chewed right through it no center hole needed. Exactly what I needed. This is my first Forstner bit. I'm now a huge fan of these bits. They're just better.
