If you’re used to stacking circular, screw-in filters from different manufacturers (Kase, Urth, Hoya etc) then please be aware this doesn’t work with different rectangular magnetic filter brands. What’s more surprising is this is also true for certain combinations within this filter set; yes any two Neutral Density filters can be stacked together* but Freewell have decided that you won’t ever want to stack, say, their Circular Polariser on top of their LPR (see Photo 1). And yes it’s the same for the other Polarisers in this set. None of them can be stacked. Certain creative options have been ruled out because of magnet placement. Of course, this doesn’t matter. Even if these two filters could line up correctly the 16:9 image vignettes noticeably. Unlike thinner filters from other brands, the Freewell polarisers can only be used on their own. *And what about Freewell’s fixed filters; can they stack without vignetting? Yes, but only in the 16:9 landscape format. Useful if you need to slow the shutter speed down below the 1 second Manual limit in Timelapse. However as you might expect both the 1:1 and the 3k 9:16 show slight vignettes along the top and bottom edges of the frame. If you prefer to keep a filter on a lens at all times (say a UV or a 1/8 Mist) then look elsewhere - partly because the 1/8 Freewell Mists are sold separately but mostly because the Osmo Pocket 3’s camera gimbal cannot park itself correctly with any Freewell attached; each filter from this brand is too thick. This can cause problems if you use a rigid clamshell case as these cannot fully close when the filter lies in any other orientation (see Photo 2). Silicone slip cases should work okay. Photographically, these filters are great but the mechanical / ease of use aspects of their design are more of a mixed bag for the price. So why the five stars? Just so this review is easy to find 😉

Quality Freewell fantastic

I filtri della Freewell sono di ottima fattura ed ottima qualità. Non aggiungono eccessivo peso alla gimbal e possono essere anche utilizzati più di uno alla volta perchè magnetici tra loro. Hanno una ottima presa sulla GIMBAL, ma fate attenzione a quando li maneggiate perchè essendo piccoli potreste sporcare le lenti con le dita. Pur essendo piccoli, nel momento in cui spegnete la POCKET la GIMBAL non si chiude; ne ho provato altri più piccoli che consenivano la chiusura, ma non mi hanno soddisfatto per resa. Io comunque ripongo senza problemi la POCKET nel suo astuccio con la camera aperta ed il filtro collegato che comunque rimane protetto dalle alette laterali che non consentono rotazioni della camera. Dal punto di vista ottico i filtri ND non aggiungono apprezzabili gradazioni di colore e quindi non producono variazioni. Sono necessari per mantenere la cosiddetta regola dei 180 gradi al fine di ottenere il motion blur nei video (l'otturatore deve mantenere il doppio del frame rate. Esempio se registrate a 30fps la velocità dell'otturatore deve essere 1/60 di secondo; se a 60fps allora 1/120s e così via... ). I filtri polarizzatori sono buoni e rimuovono gran parte dei riflessi. In generale li consiglio, anzi i filtri ND sono necessari sia per video che per foto, perchè di ottima qualità, ma vi consiglio anche di valutare bene se questa configurazione da 14 filtri sia effettivamente quella di cui avete bisogno perchè credo che difficilmente li utilizzerete tutti. Infatti non credo utilizzerete i filtri ND oltre il ND128; difficilmente utilizzerete il filtro LPR e poche saranno le occasioni in cui utilizzerete i filtri CPL ed ND/PL. In merito al fatto che tra loro possono essere aggiunti uno sull'altro questo non avviene con il grand'angolo fornito nella confezione della OSMO POCKET 3 quindi se volete utilizzare il grand'angolo della DJI ed aggiungere un filtro ND Freewell questo non si attacca e non fa presa (forse hanno una polarizzazione differente). In conclusione i filtri sono assolutamente necessari. Questi che ho provato e continuo ad avere sono leggeri e non ho riscontrato problemi nonostante la non totale chiusura della GIMBAL allo spegnimento (riponete la pocket all'interno del suo astuccio). Scegliete la combinazione di filtri adatta alle vostre esigenze, ma comprateli ;-)

Filtres de très bonne qualité, rien à dire sur l’aimant ou le polarisant circulaire. Mais deux points négatifs : c’est assez chiant à nettoyer si on laisse malheureusement une trace de doigt côté intérieur en retirant le filtre, et l’objectif de la osmo ne se pivote pas face à la nacelle lorsqu’on l’éteint avec le filtre. Vous pouvez en revanche manuellement caler l’objectif à l’envers, tête dans le socle lorsque vous rangez la cam, pour que l’objectif reste protégé.
