This works exactly as intended. Plenty of excess cable. The low voltage shut off and digital readout is a nice plus. I drive a Nissan Leaf so being able to monitor the 12-volt battery voltage is very important. If you know you know. This works great with my Vantrue 360 cam. Should work with any dash cam that uses USBC for power. Only thing that would be nice would be an option to set the exact voltage cut off instead of having to rely on three preset levels and an old school switch design. I'm sure there's room in the display box to add the necessary hardware. Highly recommend if you are looking for a super clean install.

Great cable! The 10ft length is perfect and gives plenty of reach. The LED light is a nice feature and makes it easy to see when it's powered. Works exactly as expected and feels durable. Very happy with this purchase!

Let me start by saying this: I saw someone else's review where they said that their single problem with the product is that they have to manually shut off the camera and that they thought that it would collectively shut down when they shut off the vehicle... Ummmmm! Then you just wasted $30 bucks when all you needed was the cigarette lighter plug which was already provided in the original packaging... The WHOLE POINT of this accessory is to plug in your camera and for it to stay on. It's the hardwire ALTERNATIVE to having to remove fuses, hoping you removed the right one and all the other rigamarole... With this, you just thread it through to make it inconspicuous, plug it into your ODB, connect it to your camera and YOU'RE ALL READY TO "DASH CAM" (is that a thing? WELP! I guess it is now). This product was a game changer, for me!!! Before I knew this was available, I was very hesitant to attempt to use the fuse hardwire method to install the N4 Pro. I'm pretty technologically inclined and know my way around electrical stuff, for the most part, but it's still my new SUV. I wasn't trying to mess any of the electrical settings up, fiddling with stuff... Yes, the fuse hardwire would have kept my ODB free and clear and the plug IS rather difficult to pull out if I DO need to use it, but that's MINOR compared to being able to have the 24/7 monitoring that's promised as one of the benefits of hardwiring. In short? I'm fully satisfied! Now, if I can just find out if that rear camera for the N5 is compatible with my N4 Pro and if it is, if it's compatible WITHOUT reducing the resolution and quality (2160) of my main camera!

I currently have it equipped for my Vanture N4 pro camera. The cable is long enough to reach right behind the rearview mirror, still have enough dangling next to my foot. Comes with the sticky part to attach to the side, but I don't that in case some day I decided to switch dashcams which may need a different OBD reader entirely, especially if it's not USB C entry. It has 3 voltage options, for my vehicle or dashcam, not sure which one, tends not to work well with the highest setting on. I'd have to bring it to the middle setting in order for my dashcam to operate while it's parked.

So hardwiring requires a good understanding of which fuses to use. If you don’t (like me) you will cause windows not to open and error messages to show up on your Honda Ridgeline. The good news is that if you screwed things up with the hard wiring the truck will revert back to where it was before you screwed it up! This setup fits right, the speed is quick to setup, it’s compatible and the quality is great so far! It’s definitely a good value for the money! I will update as it comes.

I definitely prefer this OBD hardwire kit to the other one where you tap into fuses. The OBD port is trivial to identify and connect to. That said, I'm not as keen on the parking monitor feature after seeing the constant drain on the car battery. I don't know about other vehicles, but my mini reminds me every morning of the increased battery drain. I *might* pull this out and just use the cigarette lighter.

I hardwired the dashcam into the fusebox. In a 2012 Tundra, there are two. I used the one under the hood. It took 2 hours and I didn't know if I got it right. I think it worked, but Meee. I bought this one and it was installed in 20 minutes or less. Plug it in and it works. The voltage indicator is really great. No worries about the battery dying. DO NOT GET THE HARD WIRE KIT! GET THIS. Save yoursellffffff!

Possibly from the -40° Temps in Northern Canada? *Thankfully I had purchased the OBD Hardwire kit when I bought dashcam (that was tucked away under my back seat and when I opened it to use after the standard 12v adapter failed, I realized the OBD Hardwire kit has a switch that cuts Dashcam power off when your vehicles battery drops to 12.4, 12.0 or 11.6 volts to prevent battery from draining if Dashcam is left on for Parking Mode) I am now using this Hardwire plug and am happy I bought this because I like it MUCH better than the standard 12v adapter. I did contact Vantrue customer support right away about the standard 12v adapter failing, and to my surprise they responded immediately and offered to replace the 12v Adapter when i explained what happened. Vantrue Customer Support has been Awesome, with Prompt replies & Hassle-Free warranty replacement for the charging cable! *Initially (and before I remembered I had bought the OBD Hardwire Kit stored under my back seat) I expected to wait forever to get a response and have a big hassle trying to get the 12v adapter replaced but was Pleasantly surprised when they wrote back later the same day and offered a quick replacement. Very happy I decided to go with Vantrue for my Dashcam. I feel much better knowing I have a Vantrue Dashcam recording as I drive. The image quality is awesome, Thankfully I've only needed to download videos (directly and easily) to my cell phone thru the built in wifi of Wildlife during my travels to show friends & family - and not actual accident videos. Several of the people I showed the videos to couldnt believe the image quality was so good. I researched many Dashcam brands, and Vantrue stood out in many reviews because of their Quality Products. When i unboxed the Dashcam, I was very happy to see the high-quality compinents in the box from the Cords to the window/dash mounts and Dashcam itself. Even the bags each piece was wrapped with inside the box wasnt just some cheaply made garbage. The OBD Hardwire Kit even came in a nice nice quality box and was packaged very well. You definitely know that you purchased a High-End, Quality product when unboxing everything! Vantrue clearly cares about Quality and their customer service! I'll say it again - HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Got this for my Vantrue N5 360 degree 4 channel dash cam, and it works great in the new 2025 PHEV SUV. Keeps the dashcam running for hours after I park, and then powers off if the battery gets too low. Also, the dashcam has a built in capacitor, so it runs for a fair bit of time. Have had video coverage of almost 10 - 12 hours after parking the car., The OBD port adaptor saved me from hours of trying to figure out how to hard wire to a power source, Highly recommended if you plan on getting a Vantrue Dash Cam

Easy to install but constantly eats power and has to switch off the camera after parking the car.

Good alternative if you dont want to hotwire your dashcam
