Q: will it work on a tall mantle?

I think it would be a little hard to keep on a mantle because of the width of the lamp and shade.

Q: Is this a three way lamp?

I'm very skeptical about anything more than a 60 Watt Bulb. Did anyone else notice a sticker on the neck of the lamp WARNING that the Maximum Bulb is a 60 Watt Type A. It's good to hear that others have had luck with this. This is the $41 lamp, right.

Q: What is the width of lamp excluding shade?

This lamp is 9" wide without the shade.
