I’m thoroughly impressed with this chair, especially given the price! The chair is more sturdy than I’d ever expect for this price- it’s extremely stable front to back. Side to side is a little questionable, and I’m curious how it’ll do once I’m out backpacking on less stable ground. That said, for the price, even if I don’t continue to use for backpacking, I think it’s worth trying it. I do wish the back sat you up just a little bit more, but it’s still comfortable. Weight wise, it’s actually more like 1 lb 10oz with the carrying pouch. But you could leave the pouch (it’s actually more space than needed) and save 2 oz. That said, for this price, the weight is incredible. The original Helinox is heavier and double this price, and the ultralight is 8oz lighter but $100 more. No other brands on Amazon or other places come close to this price or weight. I do question if some broader shouldered ppl would find the back comfortable- I don’t have any quarrels, but I could see the two corners potentially digging in. It was extremely easy to put together- I didn’t have to look at any of the paperwork and it took less than a minute. Overall, very happy with this purchase thus far. Will update once I finish my backpacking trip in regards to stability.

This chair is fantastic! I’m 6’4 and hefty at that and this chair is still very comfortable to sit in. I haven’t been able to use it too much but I do have several hours in this chair around a campfire and while trout fishing and it works great! It can be assembled in around 2 minutes and packed up in around the same time. The chair is also light weight coming in at around 1lb 10oz. The chair doesn’t feel flimsy but it isn’t anything fantastic. I would say this is a great buy considering the weight and price.

Plastic connection parts at the legs. The photo shows metal mortise and tenon joints. I’ll give it a shot.

The chair assembles very easy and it very light. Chair weights 1lb 10 ounces with the cover. Very comfortable to sit in and get out of. At less than a 1/3 of cost of some name brand ultra light chairs, I am giving this chair a try. Packs up small, very light weight, acceptable quality materials. Will be using it for some camping trips in the next few months. Will update the review once tested on the field.

I purchased a Helinox Chair Zero last year (when it was on sale, and using my REI dividend), but needed a second chair this year, and wasn't about to pay $147 for it. I chose this Lacal chair primarily because it is nearly the same weight as the Chair Zero, for a third of the price. Upon receiving it, I did a side-by-side comparison at home: the Lacal chair is taller and deeper than the Helinox Chair Zero; it folds down to nearly the same size (its tote bag is actually oversized); it assembles just as easily; the sturdiness of the frame and fabric feel about the same; on my kitchen floor, at least, the Lacal felt as stable as the Helinox. I did notice two things about the Lacal chair that I thought could be problematic: its legs tilt slightly inward (the Helinox legs tilt slightly outward), and the plastic pieces at the corners of the fabric where the frame ends are inserted are not as deep and do not hold the posts as snugly as the Helinox. I bought this Lacal for my husband for a couple of multi-day backpacking trips this summer, but I took it with me for a solo overnighter first to try it out. In a subalpine campsite, there is rarely a patch of completely level ground, and I discovered that I had to be more careful with the placement of this chair than with the Helinox; it easily tips to the side (probably due to the inward slant of its legs) and - surprisingly - forward, if you sit facing even a slight downward slope. I tried using it on the gently sloped bank of the lake and did not feel secure at all. Also, as I thought could happen, the fabric detached from one of the seat poles while I was repositioning the chair, which I saw just in time to avoid injuring myself on it. And it wasn't long before I noticed that one of the foot caps was becoming warped and damaged from being on a slightly uneven soil surface. Aside from all that, the chair was comfortable to sit in once I got it securely positioned, and I never felt like it was going to give way under my weight. In summary, if you need a very lightweight (less than 2 pounds) chair for backpacking and don't want to pay a small fortune for it, this product is a reasonably good choice. Just keep in mind its shortcomings and be careful in how you use it. I gave it three stars for its size, weight, and relatively low price, and withheld two for design flaws that diminish its functionality and safety. Given that I'm now familiar with these issues, I'll use this chair and let my hubby use the more stable Helinox during our camping trips.
