So, I finally decided it was time to protect the shiny wheels on my truck from Jackson-area parking lots. I grabbed these McGard wheel locks (the chrome, dual‑hex, cone‑seat type with the special key), and they’ve been a rock-solid upgrade. Installing them was easy, no extra hassle, just swapped them out like lug nuts. The key tool guides itself right in, and the locks feel sturdy, like they mean business. No cheap plastic that’ll twist off; we’re talking through-hardened steel with nickel/chrome plating, per the product specs. They fit perfectly on my Chevy Silverado.

MCGARD. What more can you say? I have been a proud gearhead building cars and bikes for over forty years and if you even consider that you might need wheel locks, there is only one name that comes to mind. Its like Kleenex is to facial tissue, there are other brands, but they have issues. (Trust me, I have tried a few of the cheaper lock options and lived to regret it). No, I get nothing touting McGard's wheel locks, but like I said, I do believe in them because they have earned a reputation of toughness, reliability, and customer service. All that being said, on this particular application I wish the lock was a little shorter. They stick out about a quarter-inch further than the stock lug nuts. I'm not sure that was necessary but I'm not a McGard engineer either. Its an excellent product that given its nature you hope you never need, but will regret not having, if you don't make the small investment compared to the cost of expensive wheels. Watch for frequent sales discounts to save a few bucks.

These are good locking lugnuts. but you have to be careful when purchasing for a 3rd gen gmc canyon. after careful examination using a dial indicator measuring a protuding lug bolt on the back of my canyon these locks fit fine. however when going to the front of the vehicle i discovered that the lug bolts are longer on the front wheels, and when installing the lock the lugbolt bottomed out on the new lugnut lock! if i had tightened to the recommended torque there is a real good possibility that the lock end could separate and then no way to remove the lock. As i stated earlier these locks are fine, it's just that gm in their great wisdom thought that different length lugbolts is a good idea. So beware, order the locking lugnuts that look too long for your wheels and you will probably be ok.
