Kaytee Comfort Exercise Wheel, 5.5-inch, Small, for Dwarf Hamsters, Mice, Gerbils (Assorted Colours)

Brought this for my african pygmy hedgehog and it's brilliant! Initially tried a silent spinner but took that out of her cage after 3 days as it was already coming apart. Tried the flying saucer wheel but she didn't seem to get on with it very well. Tried a hedgehog wheel from a specialist breeder but was very disappointed that it wasn't 12 inches - it was fine when she was small but now she has had a growth spurt her back arches when she tries to run in it. Having read the reviews of this wheel I was a little apprehensive but had run out of other options so decided to give it a go. Very glad I did! She loves this wheel and will run all night in it. I wouldn't recommend using the stand as it's very flimsy but we attached it to the side of her cage and have had no problems at all. Easy to clean (we clean ours daily) and a good size. Not the quietest of all the wheels we have tried but definitely the safest and the one she enjoys the most!

Impossible to remove from stand, some saying ypucan, others saying you can't. You cannot unless you have more strength than the hulk and popeye's love child. Attached to side of cage with stand attached so that it's sturdier. Really had to fight to get it on. Pliers were needed, have them to hand if you get this wheel. It is noisy, definitely not something you'd want in the room if trying to sleep. Applied vegetable oil like someone suggested because the squeak was insane, improved the squeak, but still rattles like mad. Size is good tho and fits hamster well. Had him for about 2 weeks and he doubled in size so a larger wheel was seriously needed. Will be returning it.

Bit squeaky 😂but for the price it’s perfect size! My hamster looks smaller than what he is in the wheel hopefully it last him a long while I love it

This wheel is perfect for Syrian hamsters (the more common bigger type). The reviewer who said it was too stiff for his hammy probably has a Dwarf hamster of some sort? I bought this after my chubby boy Dexter broke his old one that came with the cage! Now he doesn't have to bend his spine awkwardly anymore to get a good workout. It's quite big so make sure you have room for it before you buy (check the dimensions in the description!). The only problem with this is that the point between the wheel and axle is loose and wobbly. It's not unstable by any means but when my hamster runs on it, there's a loud rumbling noise due to the constant hitting against the two surfaces. Similarly, the top of the wheel is close to the top of the cage so at one point it was banging so loud I got woken up 5 times in one night and my brother in the room below could hear it too! To remedy this I took 2 plastic food gloves and folded them up to pad out the top of the cage and the space between the wheel and axle keeping them in place with some sticky tape. Now it's practically silent and I can have a good nights sleep!

Advertised as silent?! I’ve never heard such a noise coming from a hamster wheel!! Literally SCREECHING the first night it was used!! And v hard to get the wheel off to oil it! Once I finally managed it and the screech was gone, the whole thing just rattles. I’m putting up with it as it’s a good size for my Russian hamster and I’m fed up with wheel shopping, but I’ve been through a lot of hamster wheel designs in 40 years and this one ain’t great.

It's slightly warped... Only VERY slightly admittedly... I tried it with my Syrian hamster and it's frankly too flimsy and loud and constantly needs peanut oil to stop the squeaking suggesting to me the spindke and wheel come into too much contact this the squeak... I then tried it with my dwarf hamster... Very good for him and a great size for him. Recommended size for dwarves is 6-8" so 8.5" is luxury. Spend a little more for a Syrian but it's almost silent with the dwarf

Only humans find the noise objectionable, the bankvoles and dwarf hamsters would do a wheely alternatively from their separate homes in conversation with each other. The noise has never put off the mice. Built to last long. Ok, bits can get gnawed & over time this can lead to problems with the spindle. Poo can get lodged in the rungs, so needs frequent cleaning. But compared with the expensive 'silent spinners' which are unsteady, with wheel nuts that fall off frequently, the Kaytee spinner is a much loved & a sought after purchase. I am only just now replenishing some if those which have lasted a good five years.

Good quality exercise wheel.

it does the job and hamster plays on it. but its loud and GET VERY LOUD and squeeky in just a day

Perfect size for my Syrian hamsters. My kiddos helped them get comfortable using it and now they run on it constantly! It squeaked a bit but we put Vaseline on the inside of the wheel where the white plastic bar fits in and the squeaking stopped! Definitely recommend buying and we’ll most likely be buying a 2nd one because of having 2 hamsters.

It is funny, I asked for this exercise wheel but I received an exercise ball, frankly speaking it was an excellent product and my ham loves it very much. I don't know whether it will break if fell down. Very easy to use.
