Not perfect, but great for the price.
I repair and build computers at work and use these docks quite extensively. I've only used this unit for a few weeks, so I can't comment on longevity, but I'm familiar enough with the unit to offer some feedback. The fan works fine, it cools sufficiently, but is quite loud. Thankfully, the fan has a toggle switch, so you can leave it off until you're doing a long transfer. I considered dropping the rating by one star for this, but considering the price point and features of this unit, I think it more than makes up for that. There are really only two or three different units with similar features as this:Sabrent makes a horizontal dock that has a fan, but does not read nvme drives. Sabrent's dock has poor cooling and a similarly loud fan. Horizontal docks also use more desk space, though may work better in specific desk layouts, you'll have to consider this on your own. asin B013WODZH0Fideco makes another unit that is more of a full enclosure. The top slides off and it has a fan. Again, no nvme support and not quite as easy to swap drives in and out. It's still tool-less so it swapping drives isn't difficult, but if you're doing it daily, then it could be something to consider. The fan on this enclosure is very quiet. asin B0BXDRJV7Rstardock makes a unit that has a variable fan. I have not tried this dock, but it could be worth looking at if you want a quieter fan. It is generally quite a bit pricier than the alternatives asin B00U8KSLA8In conclusion, compared to the alternatives, this dock priced around $42 is a great deal when considering the nvme support and built in fan. If you purchase a barebones sata to usb connector, an ac infinity fan, and a separate nvme reader, you might spend around the same price and have a quieter fan, but this dock incorporates all of that in one neat unit.

Works as advertised.
I got this because I wanted to access a bunch of my old hard drives. It was easy to use, the hard drives fit well and were instantly recognized by my new computer. It isn’t built for durability, but that isn’t an issue unless you decide to be rough with it.The only issue is you need to confirm what types of drives you want to read. It worked for all but one of my old hard drives. I didn’t know the difference between all the drives, but with a couple minutes of research I was able to decide which version I needed.

Works well for a fair price
I use this dock to back up video files to a couple redundant drives. I know, I could do a proper RAID, or set up a NAS, but I don't have space and my editing rig is a laptop, so this solution works well for me, for now.Speeds are consistent, even on long file operations. A 60GB transfer takes about 15-20 minutes, which is fair. The fan is great for long transfers. I have a non-actively cooled dock, and the drives get so hot they are too hot to pick up, and I worry about proper function. This one keeps the drives cool, well within proper handling temperature.I have read other reviews which state the fan is "quite loud" but I disagree. It is not whisper quiet, but not distractingly loud or high pitched. I'd rate it as mild white noise. I can easily watch TV or listen to music without issue while it runs no more than three feet from where I sit. But perhaps I'm just old-school, and I remember when case fans used to run like jet engines, so this doesn't seem bad to me.The unit admittedly has zero frills, no safety features for your drive (except the fan), but it doesn't claim to have any, and I have no complaints, so it's a solid purchase in my book!

I'm happy with my purchase!
It does exactly what I needed it to do. I've used it on HDD,SSD, and M.2 drives. It's fast.It allows me to easily partition drives, or move around files/data without having to open up and partially tear down my PC to get to the drives. Has a nice dock and even a cooling fan that I like. Great value for the money.

Can NOT Clone to same type of deive ;-(
I ordered to clone my SSD to another SSD, I have a M2 that I want to clone so I can move over to that drive.. I was excited when I opened the box .. Excellent packaging....... BUT THEN ...I learned it has but 1 slot for each kind of drive... so if you need to clone from one SSD or M2 to the same kind this product won't do what you need.. The Most Important feature I need is to be able to dock 2 drives of same type and clone one to the other ........ This product can't do that...... much sadness ... if you don't need that feature this is otherwise Great !!!!!!1
