Schultz African Violet Plus Plant Food 8-14-9, 4 fl oz (1)

I've had trouble keeping African Violets alive in the past, but now, mine are thriving. They love this food. I heat with wood, thus my home air is a bit dry. I mix this food with water and put it in a bowl, then sit the pot in the bowl. It sucks up the food/water. When I feel the soil, if it starts to get damp, I take it out. I've been feeding them weekly and they have been blooming non-stop for several years.

The Shultz African Violet fertilizer works very well for my African violets, although there is another brand with higher concentrations of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium that seems to produce extra blooms. It's hard to say for sure because the days are getting shorter and light is very important for blooms. I haven't yet set up my artificial lighting system to extend the days. I chose to use Shultz because I had been reading about the problems of over-fertilizing african violets. I don't think there's any risk of this with the Shultz, especially as their bloom season winds down. I will probably use the other one in the spring. I also find that it's very water soluble. Since I use the self-watering pots, this is very important to me.

DAMN! Steriods for my Thanksgiving cactus. Couldn't really tell much through out the year. Come the week between Thanksgiving and Christmas Gret Googly Moogly! 2-3 times the blooms as usual. Get ya this stuff!!

I'm new a African Violets, so I had to ask a friend what to look for in a food for my plant. The best idea is bottom-watering with a liquid food. My plant is 6 months with me AND this food, and is putting on leaves and blooming. This liquid has no offensive odor in the water, leaves no color stain, and is easy to use when following the instructions on the label. I recommend this liquid Violet food.

This couldn't be easier to mix up/apply. I just expected more growth in the time I've been using it. Blooms come/go. The plant is healthy, and it does throw blooms.
