XAV-AX8500 10.1" Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto Media Receiver w/HDMI and Maestro Ready

I purchased this reciever to replace the AX8100 that came installed in my 2024 Entegra Odyssey. The number one issue I had with the 8100 was the inability to see the screen with polarized sunglasses, the screen just appeared solid black. The screen on the 8500 allows the use of polarized sunglasses. Additionally the screen is much clearer, and sharper and shows less glare than the 8100. The audio is also substantially improved over the 8100. Even with the same speakers it sounds amazing. Android Auto works wirelessly connecting automatically. No regrets on this purchase at all. I am very happy with the unit.

Awesome quality on the physical construction. Screen is fantastic. Sound quality is decent. My biggest gripe is that other competitive screens run on a version of android that lets you download apps. Not seeing this one allow that.

I've only had this unit installed for a few days but, wow this thing is great so far! I recently installed a Jense. CAR140MW and it malfunctioned after a month. I returned it and decided to step up to this Sony unit. I am glad I did. What a difference! The sound quality on this unit is superb. One of the most notable differences with this unit compared to the Jensen is it's refinement amd responsiveness. It is lightning quick when selecting on screen buttons or apps. Connects seamlessly to my Samsung phone via wireless android auto. So far so good. Love it!

zero stars if i could, too many issues with apple carplay 50% of the time wont connect to it,when i bought it i paid almost a thousand bucks, replaced it whith a Chinese cheap one ($199)no issues carplay connects rather quickly,and you get to think how can a cheap radio performed better than a Sony a 1$ thousand radio, reached to Sony no help at all to late to returned it just be aware

Installed in 2009 tundra SR5 with an adapter bundle and it worked great. Love the swivel option and the wireless CarPlay. The 3 camera is a fantastic feature that definitely is commanding a big price for the unit but I wish it was a 4 camera option for the front and sides too. Sounds great even on a stock anemic oem speakers. Very highly recommended. I’m sure the prices will come down eventually.

The screen is basic and very easy to use which is a negative for some but a positive for my aging customers in their RVs. Installed over 15 of them and recommend them over and over with zero complaints. If you are younger and want something complicated then this unit is not for you. If you want that old school on off and volume this is it.

Screen is a nice size, the refresh rate is a definite improvement. Hands free calling mic is actually not bad either. Car play works 9/10 times, sometimes i have to shut off my phone's Bluetooth. The screen is delaminating from the panel but I push it back into place (I could probably warranty the unit).

Sound quality is good, as far as the display and functions im not a fan. Very basic for Sony.
