Awesome, outperforms a more expensive brand.
Full-time graduate student-Check Full-time professional employee-Check Mommy to a young child-Check To say my hair is not at the top of my priority list would be an understatement. My hair routine typically consisted of washing it at night a few times a week, slapping in some leave-in conditioner, and going to bed. This resulted in my thick, medium-long hair being frizzy and a bit unruly. I had finally been considering listening to my hairstylist friend that insisted sleeping on wet hair is nearly a cardinal sin, but I just didn’t want to spend the 45 minutes drying my hair with my $30 Conair. And lord knows I wasn’t about to wake up earlier to shower in the morning than I already had to. Convieniently, my sister was in town visiting and had brought along her bright yellow DryBar blow dryer and offered me to try it out. I started using it 2-3 times a week and was pretty happy with the results. I was able to dry my hair in under 20 minutes and while it wasn’t perfect, it was far better than my previous ‘style’. Right when I had figured out the best combination of hair products, my sister went back home and took her dryer with her (boo). So I went to look at purchasing one for myself, and immediately scoffed and took a hard pass when I saw the $200 price tag. Thus began my brief journey into searching Amazon and the all-mighty internet for some reviews and recommendations on a cheaper alternative. I kept seeing this Babyliss pop up, the baby blue color was familiar as my previously mentioned hairstylist friend uses one of their flat irons. After reading more reviews, I finally ordered it. And let me say, I am glad I didn’t fork over the $200 for the DryBar, because y’all THIS ONE IS BETTER! I promise you, I didn’t think it was possible but it is. It takes me 12-15 minutes to fully dry my hair, and it actually comes out less frizzy than the other dryer. Super shiny, low-frizz, soft to the touch. Simply awesome. The dryer itself is lightweight and has a few options for heat level and speed (I use high heat on the low speed setting). This combined with a paddle brush and I get a smooth, semi-straight style. I’ve used it 3x so far and felt it safe to write a review and recommend it! If you are searching for a great mid-tier dryer, this one fits the bill!

I can't believe my hair dryer was the problem
For the longest time, my hair always looked so overwhelmingly damaged and frizzy that I was embarrassed to wear my hair down. I would always tie it up in a ponytail or braid it so people couldn't see how damaged it was. I tried every expensive, professional salon brand shampoo and conditioner I could find, hoping one of them would work. After having no luck, I finally decided that it would be best just to chop all of my hair off so I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. Coincidentally, I was in the market for a new hair dryer anyway since the old Conair I had was about 20 years old and had the fan on the SIDE of the dryer, which made it easy to constantly have my hair sucked into it and leave me to pry it out. After searching to find a cute, well made hair dryer with the fan on the back, I happened upon the Babyliss Pro. It met all of my criteria: cute, fan in the back, and different heat/speed settings. The dryer also boasted that it could dry faster than other dryers, as well as reduce frizziness and increase shine. I didn't think this could possibly be true since all hair dryers are the same, right? They just blow hot air. Well, I thought I'd at least give it a shot since it has a good reputation. So I ordered it. Ordering this hair dryer has changed my hair completely and I couldn't be happier! After just one blow dry, my hair was rid of frizz and looked healthy and strong. It also cut my drying time by a drastic amount! My hair is long (almost down to my belly button) and it would usually take an hour to dry with my old Conair. With my new Babyliss hair dryer, my hair dries in no time at all! It's super gentle on my hair and feels so much better than my old hair dryer in every way. Another added benefit is that my hair is now incredibly soft. The first day I used it, I kept running my hands through my hair because I couldn't believe how soft it made it feel. I always used to dread drying my hair because it would take so long and feel like my hair was being fried. Now, I can't wait to start drying my hair because I know I'll be done in less than fifteen minutes and my hair will look beautiful afterwards. I can't say enough good things about this hair dryer. It's done amazing things for my hair and I love it.

Affordable & Saves Time Without Damaging Fine Hair!
I'm SO glad I found this awesome and inexpensive dryer! It is the cheapest of the BaBylissPRO dryers and I never thought I'd be willing to invest in their expensive products, but this one is nice and cheap at least online it is. At Ulta, it's $85. And boy had I been missing out! I thought BaByliss might be all hype but after using this for a year now, I am questioning why I ever hesitated to buy this. I had no idea how much an industrial strength saves dry time without damaging my fine / thin hair! It is not overly big or cumbersome, more like a nice mid-sized blow dryer with a lot of power for being such a light-weight. Here's the deets: - Powerful 2000-watt Italian motor (power = quick dry time) - Advanced technology that distributes heat equally along the hair shaft - Negative ions mean not only quicker drying, but a flowing, frizz-free look! - Offers 6 heat/cool speed settings & a cool shot button - Removable chrome steel filter for easy-peasy maintenance - Comes with a concentrator nozzle for us control-freaks - Limited 4-year warranty HOW I USE THIS DRYER: I like to start on the highest & hottest setting and then ramp down the heat as my hair becomes drier. Then, I use the high & cool setting with the cold shot button depressed to close the follicles and seal the deal, leaving my hair only very slightly damp. TIP: I have had incredible results with no more fly-aways by using this dryer on my wet hair and applying 3-4 pumps of Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil just before drying my hair. I use the concentrator nozzle every time all the time so I can dry only where needed and not fry my hair.

Impressive Little Blow Dryer
***** UPDATE 2020 ***** This blow dryer is STILL going as strong as Day 1. Incredible quality product. BaByliss really created a great product at an extremely affordable price point. I’m actually going to venture into some of their other products (curling iron/flat irons). I typically will purchase a high end blow dryer ... not because I think they're better because they're expensive but typically they are better, last longer, take less time to dry my hair, and less damaging to my hair. The last blow dryer I purchased was in 2007 for $200. It only recently passed on. My lifestyle has changed since 2007 - like the addition of small children and a home. I wanted to see if I could find a more affordable option but would still give me the same or close to the same results as my previous hair dryer. It previously took me 25-30 minutes to blow out my hair straight that sits 2-4 inches below my shoulders and very very very curly. Right off the back I was impressed with the BaByliss ... it's very light weight. It only took me 10 minutes to get my hair dry and literally no frizz. I used to dread blowing out my hair just because even though a 1/2 hour doesn't seem like much right now in my life with young kids it is. I'd rather spend time doing something fun with them than wasting time blow drying my hair. I've had the blow dryer for a few months now ... still seems as impressive as it was from day one. I will update my review if anything should change but I honestly do not anticipate that.

A few niggling flaws, but otherwise ferociously awesome
I bought this blow dryer because my 3rd old faithful Revlon crapped out on me. It wasn't a great blow dryer, but it did the job. Suffice to say, I don't have experience with top of the line blow dryers, so my experience may be colored by that. First, this thing can actually blow you away. The power coming out of this thing (when it's on high) is intense. Low is meh. Kind of what my old dryer could put out after the first few uses. I love that it's powerful, but it also has a tendency to tangle up my finer long hair and essentially dry it in a knot/kink. So, this isn't a great dryer for blasting your whole head willy nilly; unless you have thick and heavy hair you're going to want to section and dry with the attachment and making sure you're not accidentally aiming it at the rest of your head. Unless you want to use the low setting, in which case you might just want to get a different dryer. This thing also gets really really hot on High. There are also low and medium settings, but I want to get blow drying over with quickly and don't really see their merit. Word of warning: I had been using a metal ceramic coated brush with quite a bit of metal around the end of the brush, and it did heat up enough to burn me. So I no longer use that brush. As mentioned, there are several options for heat and speed, as well as a cool button. My previous dryer had a sliding selector, and the cool button was raised, but these are rocker switches, with the cool button being flush with the handle. In my opinion, they're WAY too sensitive. There's no great place to put my hand on the handle because I'll accidentally put pressure on the cool button (I prefer to hold closer to the nozzle but still on the handle) and moving my hand down usually means I knock the rocker buttons to a different setting. I've only used this dryer 5 or so times, and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it's relatively annoying. Even with points deducted for having overly sensitive buttons, this thing is pretty awesome and does a quick job (even when I have to section and use a brush, which always ends up better for my hair anyway).

This Hairdryer Is Fabulous
I've only used it once so far, and I really like it. I've used ion and tourmaline hair dryers for many years, and I do think they make my hair look better. When the wire on my old dryer split apart and stopped working, I was stuck without a dryer until I found one I liked. I searched online and did some research, as I wanted a better quality dryer that wouldn't have the problem the last 2 dryers had---split cords. My old "back up" dryer is just a little Conair, and my hair just didn't look the same--more frizzy and flyaway. This dryer is light, which I love! It's quiet, and that is good news since it's held up near your ears. There's no "whiny" high pitched sound. The strength of the air flow is perfect. I use it set on medium heat with high air flow. The rubber of the cord seems to be of higher quality than my previous hairdryer, so I hope it lasts. The quality of the dryer seems to be good. I like the size too--a little less bulky than my last one. It's slender and fits in your hand nicely. The only negative thing I'd say is that my hand bumps the rocker-style switch on the handle while I'm blow drying my hair sometimes. It would be better if it was a different style switch. All in all, I'd say go out and get one of these if you're in the market for a great blow dryer. The price isn't too bad, but it's worth a little extra money for something of quality. Fingers crossed that it lives up to this!

Good hair dryer--UPDATED AFTER 4 YEARS OF USE TO 5 STARS
Written July /2014 with four stars: I like the dryer--it's fast and probably helps me dry my hair as straight as possible. I have the same quibble with it that others have mentioned--one, the concentrator falls right off of it, so it's not really useful to me; and two, the controls (switches) for heat and airflow are located in a place on the handle where I am always accidentally changing the settings while I'm drying my hair. This is annoying, but I've learned to expect it and automatically correct it. Still, it is a good hair dryer, and the price is reasonable compared to other higher-end dryers (well, to me they are higher-end--this is my first non-Conair!). UPDATED AFTER 4 YEARS OF USE: Upgraded to five stars. Wow. I bought this hair dryer on Amazon on 1/17/14. This is four years later, and I'm still using the dryer every day (I have washed my hair daily since I was a teenager). I am 65 years old now, and have used blow dryers since college, generally ConAirs--and I've always accepted that they last only about a year. This was my first purchase of a more expensive dryer, as suggested by my hair stylist. Despite the annoying way the controls are configured, resulting in accidental changes of setting while using the dryer, I am very impressed that the dryer is still working perfectly after four years. I will definitely buy either this, or another more expensive dryer, again--it has turned out to be a much more reliable and better value, a case of "you get what you pay for." Updated 5/22/23: Over nine years later, and this dryer is still working perfectly. Amazing. Will definitely buy another, when this one finally breaks.

Who Knew?? It's the Blow-Dryer!
Been using whatever blow dryer that didn't break the bank, on my shoulder-length thick hair. Years & years of drying experience here. I always thought the curling iron or shampoo made all the difference. But reading the reviews on the Babyliss pro gave me pause. I'd just spent $50 on a nice John Frieda the girl at Ulta said was good. Tried it out and it's the same ole thing. It's just a blow-dryer. Right?? No better than my old con-air. But I decided to see if there was any way the air would blow Better out from the highly rated Babyliss and I ordered it. Skeptical much?? Oh my, yes. I have some natural wave to my thick hair and the stylist somehow coaxes all this amazing curl out of it--she says its in the drying. So my new Babyliss arrived. Wash. Condition. Dry a little. Mousse a little. Dry and scrunch. Hmmm. Hair looks great. "Seemed..." To dry faster than usual. Nah. Next try--same thing. Great hair. Fast dry. My skepticism is fading fast. By the time a few weeks went by, I'm telling my husband that "Not all hot air is created equal!" 5 stars for a blow dryer. Craziness. And I didn't try the little nozzle thing at all. I may buy the separate diffuser but right now....I just love this lightweight-easy to use, dryer.
