It is adult orientated, so people expecting the comic book version of the child friendly 90s cartoon might be disappointed. These turtles are heavily armed ninjas that actually kill people with no moralising about the rights and wrongs of taking a life. They simply destroy their enemies. Cowabunga!!
As an avid fan of the "TMNT Adventures" series of comics and the 80s cartoon, I'd never actually read the original black & white comics from whence it all came. And what a brilliant way to experience them this book is; the stories and artwork themselves are great of course, but the full-colour reproduction of them really adds an extra level of depth, IDW have done a terrific job of compiling these and I can't wait to get reading volume 02!

Great book, delivery was fast, and book was in great condition, I recommend reading this book if you've never read a teenage mutant ninja turtles comic before, and then when you finish it, I recommend getting TMNT the idw collection, 8.5/10.

Before there was an enduring action figure line, before there was a legendary Saturday morning cartoon, and before "Turtle Power" conquered the pop-culture zeitgeist, there was an independent black & white comic book. One that blended the seemingly humorous concept of anthropomorphic animal characters fighting crime with the gritty backdrop of a world inspired by Frank Miller's legendary run on Marvel's Daredevil. In fact the first issue subtlety ties the Turtles' origin to that of young Matt Murdoch. What follows is a gritty tale of revenge and redemption against the Turtles' greatest enemy; the Shredder. ...and that's just the first issue reprinted here. What was intended to be a single issue became an enduring legacy as creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird would introduce Baxter Stockman, April O'Neil, Casey Jones and then send our Teenaged heroes on an interdimensional trip to the stars. All of this is collected in this first volume. Issues 1-7 along with the Raphael and Michaelangelo micro-series one-shots are all included here and now in vibrant color. It is also worth mentioning that the artwork of Eastman and Laird is rarely given the credit it is due. While their character work may not be as crisp and glossy as some more familiar superhero contemporaries, the designs, panel layout, backgrounds, and action is rich and easy to comprehend. From the start it is apparent that, unlike many of the "all-star artists who rose to fame in the late 80's and 90's", this creative duo actually attended art school and their work has a depth of detail that is a rarity to this day. Do yourself a favor and don't miss out. Whether you get this colorized version or a black and white reprint collection, you won't be sorry.

This color edition rocks. 80s art all over, great pencil, great work on this restored version. I like the classic edition (which I read before, but having this in you hands, smell of paper, the quality of this edition is top tier. Great present for hardcore TMNT fans, and hopefully kids start reading more paper edition like this and less from screens.

Sempre quis ter os primeiros volumes de TMNT quando foram lançados no Brasil no fim da década de 1980. Mas agora consegui! Um clássico!
