What I found instead were easy ways to develop and redevelop whatever creativity I had ...
This is a remarkable book. I was expecting to discover some high headed design principles which I could use in case I end up working in a design firm. What I found instead were easy ways to develop and redevelop whatever creativity I had lost - and ways to implement in daily life. Everyone is a born designer, if you look at it, we just forget it over a period of time. If you're looking for different ways to cook a dish you make everyday or different ways to tie your shoe-laces everyday, this book is for you. Of course, it doesn't spoon-feed recipes. It tells you how to change your thinking so you can invent your own recipes or shoe-lace patterns, no matter who you are or what you do.I have read Tom Kelly's "The Art of Innovation" and comparing both books, I find this one much easier to grasp, although there are many common examples between both the books. This book is full of quirks and quotes and illustrations on design thinking, including one that teaches how to draw stick-figures. The whole book is a series of ideas and examples of people who applied design thinking in their life, ranging from Steve Job to academicians or people working at IDEO.One of the best things this book teaches, is to apply empathy to any given problem. And what better way than to empathize with the problem we've all faced through life - forgetting we're all creative! If you think you're not one of those 'creative types', give it a try, this book will prove you wrong.Binding and paper quality: Though I don't think the paper quality is to be considered good, I'm almost afraid I'll leave marks or tear if I use a pointed pencil to mark things on it. When I buy books in hard copies, I intend to keep them for life, and I shouldn't be worrying about paper quality, especially in design books. I'm not sure if the pages and illustrations on it are yellowed and fuzzy intentionally or my copy is a very old one. Binding is alright, no issues. The MRP of the book is Rs.350 and I got it for an amazing deal of Rs. 194. I think it is more than worth it.

insightful read
Good book . I did not know that every person is born with creative potential. One has to nurture it. Treat every day as a prototype . Experiment continuously. Then work becomes more fun than FUN .

Insightful and Practical
The book aims at helping people understand that Creativity is not inborn and can be acquired. Inorder to substantiate this point the book goes on to stress on how Human Centred Design can actually help in resolving many of the customer problems. In order to be creative one needs to overcome the fear of failure through small incremental steps. By focussing on action (going out there and trying the ideas and learning from it) and not on planning and by getting insights one can resolve all the complex problems that people think can be solved by only Creative people. The book includes various tools and techniques to help people become more creative, innovative and also build the culture in teams and organisations. The Authors have injected the idea that anyone can be creative by slowly bringing in concepts chapter by chapter that changes mind set of the reader. The book is full of great examples, anecdotes which are entertaining and keeps the reader hooked on to the book.Lastly the language is very simple and can make any reader understand the concepts and the message that is being conveyed. It does take the reader a careful reading to connect the dots and build logic on how each chapter links to the other. In all a great book worth reading
