A Superb All-Rounder for Gaming and Productivity. Highly recommended! ;)
I've recently built a new PC around the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, and I'm thoroughly impressed. This processor hits the sweet spot for performance, efficiency, and value, making it a fantastic choice for a wide range of builds. For everyday tasks and demanding workloads, the 6-core, 12-thread configuration is a powerhouse. Applications feel incredibly responsive, and multitasking is a breeze. When it's time to game, the chip truly shines, with the 5.4 GHz max boost frequency delivering excellent frame rates and smooth gameplay. The generous 38MB of cache certainly helps keep everything running without a hitch. One of the standout features for me is the efficiency. With a 65W TDP, it runs surprisingly cool and quiet without demanding an expensive power supply or an extreme cooling solution. The inclusion of Radeon graphics is another massive plus, providing a solid display output for setup and troubleshooting, and it's perfectly capable for light tasks without needing a dedicated graphics card straight away. For those who like to tinker, this chip has even more to offer. I spent some time in my Gigabyte B650 Eagle motherboard's BIOS tweaking the Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) settings, managing a stable undervolt and overclock, pushing the max boost to an impressive 5660 MHz while limiting the temperature to a very conservative 60°C. The results were fantastic. My Geekbench 6 scores were excellent, hitting 3598 for single-core and 15935 for multi-core, and Cinebench R24 also showed a consistent 10-15% performance bump. More importantly, it's been perfectly stable with no crashes. This extra performance is noticeable in my favourite games and productivity software like Photoshop and DaVinci Resolve, making an already great processor even better. Do keep in mind that this processor doesn't come with a cooler. I paired mine with a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 Digital Cooler, with its two fans exhausting out of the case. I have the fans set to run at a quiet 35% until the temperature goes over my 60°C limit. Thanks to this setup, my idle temps are around 45°C, and the system is almost completely silent. Even under load, it never exceeds that 60°C mark, proving you don't need an expensive AIO to keep this efficient chip cool. Overall, the Ryzen 5 9600X is a brilliant processor that offers exceptional performance for its price. It's an easy recommendation for anyone building a powerful and efficient mid-range to high-end PC on the AM5 platform.

I still went with AMD CPU, price point speed is about right.
I recently purchased the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X Processor for a new PC build, and I am extremely happy with my choice. The installation was straightforward, and the setup with my new MSI PRO X870-P WIFI Motherboard, 64GB of Crucial Pro DDR5 RAM, and MSI GeForce RTX 4060 VENTUS 2X 8GB OC Graphics Card was a breeze. While I don't use this PC for gaming, it is my primary machine for general use and demanding tasks like photo editing. Excellent performance and easy setup
The Ryzen 5 9600X has been great so far. Installation was straightforward, and it worked perfectly right out of the box. Performance is excellent for both gaming and everyday use, fast, responsive, and runs cool with a decent cooler. No stability issues or odd behavior at all. Overall, it met all my expectations and performs exactly how a modern Ryzen chip should. Great value and solid performance for the price.

Great Performance... however
I'm coming from a 5600x, on AM4. I have to admit the jump over to AM5 was a shaky start, I had originally bought all my parts elsewhere. Unfortunately, the chip I bought from said other retailer failed on me after 12 days. I don't blame them for this, and I don't blame AMD either. As they say, if you are on the bleeding edge of technology you are bound to get cut and I was cut. So originally to verify my suspicions as to whether my original chip failed I bought another here, and it was indeed the case. This one *crosses fingers* has been completely fine so far. I must admit, it does get a little toasty on the T-Die and CCD and reaches about 80c after 30 mins of gaming HOWEVER it NEVER seems to go past this. So that is a good thing, considering I am running an Artic Freezer 36 single tower CPU cooler. So to summarize, it is certainly a great leap from a 5600x. Great, providing you don't get a DOA chip like I did originally, NOTE: I must say this would be VERY VERY rare and I was just one of the unlucky ones. Now in terms of value, I certainly think in terms of pricing it is tittering on the edge of NOT worth it but considering I have seen them for as low as £200 at times. I suppose I can forgive that slightly. Will this provide you the BEST gaming experience? No to get that, you'd have to pay double and get a 9800X3D if gaming is your primary purpose. However, will it give you perfectly adequate gaming performance? Yes, providing you pair it with the right GPU for the use case and res you play. E.G I have a 7800xt playing at 1080p 180hz, and could probably get decent performance at 1440p if I had a monitor capable. In Conclusion, if you have a decent AM4 system, perhaps wait a little or get a 7600 if you WANT to migrate to AM5 just don't think you NEED to. If all games you play, are running perfectly fine. Only upgrade if games you want to play are struggling in future!

Good processor at a good price.
Superb processor for the price. Supports ECC and has a decent iGPU, fast, low power. Only issue vs 8000 series is the GPU is weaker and the idle wattage is like 20W rather than 5W because of the chiplet design. But the monolithic design 8000 series eg 8600G don't do ECC (except Ryzen pro models) and have less cache, and currently cost more than what I paid for this. I have two, one I'm pairing with a deskmini and one as my main gaming PC - runs silently and scores within 10% of a 9800X3D in most games at 1440p. Strongly recommended.

A great entry to AM5
Upgrading from an i9 9900k, so I wanted to move to a modern platform, and knew it had to be AMD. The 9600x has been great for gaming, pushing my 4070 super to its full potential especially with ray tracing. I’m very impressed with the very efficient power draw, regularly drawing 65-70w during gaming, and getting temps of 50-60 with a reasonable cooler. If you’re on an older platform, and want to get on to a more modern platform, I would highly recommend AM5 and the 9600x
