My Ghost Story Upgrade This review is for a purchase to upgrade to a new Ghost Solar Power Dual Gate controller with the upgraded circuit board. The first generation did not have the ability to add the Ghost Controls Multi Connect Kit which requires a new circuit board. With a quick install we can now open our gates from anywhere, Nice! Note: make sure you order the correct parts. This is only for the new systems with a red circuit board. Installation: was very simple. Following the instructions, both from the manual and videos made everything very easy. Make sure the system is turned off. The hardest part was getting the wire into the box through a weatherproof seal. I managed to get it through with the solar wires. Plug in, turn on, download the app, follow the instruction and voila! Well, getting the app connected to the gate is a little bit more work. Just make sure the GHOST multi connect light is on and app will guide you through the rest Pros: This works amazing! The app has so many features: Displays a history logs (only from administration login ) Displays battery levels Mode display. Displays the current mode and you can change modes easily. Visually shows the gate open, closed or opening/closing Share a key with anyone and control their access Settings for Bluetooth, WiFi, Internet Settings for notification, auto close, battery, system state, lock controls, diagnostic, and so much more. Cons: You can only look at the history log from the Admin phone. I shared a key with my wife and gave her admin level security but she and no-one else can see the log. Not a bi deal but this could be improved. I did notice that not all of their circuit boards are created equal. If you ordered a single, it was the exact board as the others but it did not have a solar power supply or a second gate wire connection. If I bought a single and later decided to make it a double or change to solar, I could not. I know Ghost makes more money this way but versatility and reliability is what I am buying in for.

You probably need a WiFi booster so it can connect to the internet. That being said it works flawlessly and an easy hookup. Customer service was great and easy to get on the phone. It is a little slow to opening, but my gates are 10’ x 10’ panels which weigh at least a couple hundred pounds. That’s a lot of weight to stop, if it gets going too fast. All in all for the money, I’m very pleased and only time will tell, if I ever have any problems with it.

It is amazing how this device made the gate operation better. The data you can see via the app is not just open/close but tells you so much more. Battery Level, Solar Output, Swing of the gate, Diagnostics, Who Opened/When, Remote Operation when I am not at home, and a lot more that I am forgetting at the moment. After adding this I would never consider going back to clicker only operation of the gate. You must try it! *Just putting this on my review in my own words, look at Ghost first to make sure you have the right system board. I think my is RED and if you have a GREEN board you will need to upgrade that as well to connect to the internet (fact check me to make sure I have the colors correct)

I have used a competitor wireless control for my gate and it could not connect to my WiFi. This device connected easily after some difficulty with the procedure. Even at the farthest point in my yard it still works well and give much more information about the health of the system. It is powered from the controls and is plug and play on the red Ghost control board. The unit is sealed and mounts next to the controller. You must make a new whole to past the cable through a supplied grommet to the internal jack in the controller.
