A player who worked hard to augment his skills and went from Burnley to playing for his country and taking 700 wickets. Disappointing that the selectors ended his test career the way they did but that aside what a super fast bowler. My only gripe is his is recollection of Covid and whilst he had challenges to be fair in the context of what others , particularly in the North went through was fare worse , his experience was an inconvenience nothing more nothing Las’s. In summary a fast paced read, great stories and its grand to see him continuing to play for Lancs (June 2025) Review: Honest and genuine - I’ve always found watching Test cricket, both on television and live, very interesting; James Anderson made it even more interesting. I have his two other autobiographies so I was prepared for his candour and self effacing style which make this a genuine and honest book. Fifty years ago I read Bradman’s which, at the time, put me off autobiographies for years. If he had been made of chocolate he would have eaten himself. This book is the complete opposite, a real insight into the development of a young bowler and his reaction to retirement. I enjoyed reading it very much.

A gripping story of one of the greatest cricketers
I picked up this book this morning I have just finished. It is very well written. Showing a child who did like school who blossomed into the highest wicket taking pace bowler. It was fascinating to hear Jimmy describe the way he bowled balls to get batters out. I would recommend any sports person to read this magnificent book. Go well.

Excellent
This is a top notch 'autobiography' all the better for the qualities of writing brought to it by Felix White. The insights into Jimmy's personality are excellent, the organisation of the whole is very good and the honesty about his 'sacking' a clear indicator he should have been picked for longer!

Sorry Jimmy
Covering much of his life and career, looked at through the lens of his international retirement, I felt this was very up-and-down and sadly much too brief. At some points it was authentic Jimmy/James, at others it was too obvious the ghost writer was filling up the page count.

For all cricket lovers. Genuine, honest and insightful thoughts from Anderson's perspective. My son loved it.

Big fan of Jimmy but this was one of the poorer biographies Very little new , lacked some anecdotes of interest and felt like it was heavily ghost written by someone not invested in cricket I would try again Jimmy and write it on your own
