This is exactly what I was looking for. I teach a Lactation class to new nurses, as well as provide lactation assistance to be mothers, and this is perfect to help both parties understand that the small drops of colostrum are sufficient to a newly born infant.

As a Doula and Lactation counselor I am often with moms during their most vulnerable and anxious times. The hospitals in my area don’t do a great job of educating mothers about breastfeeding. So it is my job to help them feel confident in their knowledge and abilities. The physical visualization of the baby’s tummy helps mom to know she is producing enough milk for her little one.

It is an interesting accessory, visually indicating newborn’s stomach size. It is so amazing to see how tiny baby’s stomach is in the very beginning and how fast that grows. It is really educational for and is a great gift for new parents. Three beads are in different sizes representing day 1, 3 and 10. They are colored differently but are all well polished with smooth surface. Made of solid wood, they are quality stuff. They look cute and decorative as well.
