This is a quality product that does what it says, however the product I ordered did not come with a glass test tube, only a plastic tube that is only meant for protection for shipping/storing. We made the mistake of using the plastic tube to test alcohol and the plastic eventually melted. Upon contacting the manufacturer they informed us we ordered the version that did not come with the glass test tube. When I informed them that their product description includes two pictures with a glass test tube they could see why I was confused and shipped me a glass test tube free of charge. There is a version they sell on Amazon that includes the glass test tube (Note: it costs $10 more than the tester without the glass tube). I read several reviews on the calibration and I was somewhat skeptical, being that the hydrometer is a traceable product I decided to give this particular hydrometer a go. Upon receiving the hydrometer, I created a 3 point calibration bump test to verify that the hydrometer is indeed accurate and precise. The three point calibration curve was created with Sigma-Aldrich ethyl alcohol (200 proof) and Millipore HPLC water (<0.03ppb VOC) at the following proofs in a 250 mL graduated cylinder (+/- 1.5 mL tolerance) 180 proof, 120 proof, 80 proof. I mixed the calibration mixture with a magnetic stir bar on a stir plate for 5 minutes and allowed it to reach equilibrium in the lab for several hours. The temperature of the lab was 19.0 C. and the calibration mixtures were at 19.0 C as well. The hydrometer was placed in the graduated cylinders and allowed to reach equilibrium for several minutes prior to attaining measurements. After using the provided link on the temperature correction table provided with the hydrometer, I placed created a calibration curve and obtained the equation and R^2. The final results were in tolerance given the relative and absolute tolerance of the laboratory glassware I utilized and I obtained a R^2 value of 0.998. Which means the hydrometer you receive is in fact extremely accurate and precise for the amount of money you're spending on it. In short, I created a calibration curve with laboratory grade ethanol and ultra pure water. It checks out and its very accurate and precise. Make sure you allow the hydrometer and the solution you're placing it in reach equilibrium with the environment you're in and take note of the temperature in order to use the temperature correction table provided in hard copy or the more in depth on from the link provided in the handout in the mess of papers you get along with the hydrometer.

You need a tube for the test solution that is correctly sized to accommodate the alcoholometer. i was lucky enough to save the shipping tube and it worked for liquid sanitizer test, but did NOT work for a semi gel sanitizer, I need to find a wider tube to get an accurate reading. Otherwise it worked fine for me. Recommended.

This Hydrometer is easy to read and use. I have tested it in water as well as Whiskey purchased at the local ABS store. Both reading were accurate. I am new to brewing and distilling but this Tralle Pro Series gives me the confidence to accurately register/measure what ever type of alcohol I make. Finally, it is also made in America what could be better

Bought 2 other models on amazon a 3 pack of some cheap ones which were reading below 0 in distilled water, a fastrack that read 10 in distilled water. This was the only one that read 0 in distilled water and wasn't reading a higher proof, I believe it to be close, the temp calibration chart is nice.

Product arrived quickly and in secure packaging. Additional information is provided for use and care. There are also precautions mentioned in the instructions to prolong the life of this item. A link to an expanded temperature/proof chart is also included. Upon opening you will notice a nice presentation with a quality product to follow. I purchased the hydrometer jar as well, and plan to purchase more from this company as my hobby progresses. Well done.

I didnt dislike anything about the product . Actually after how small it was compared to my buddy's I was disappointed at first but no longer . His that I borrowed was big glass tube plus the hydrometer . I lived in fear of breaking it by bumping into it . This one is better . Only the hydrometer is glass and slips right back into the plastic tube perfect for safety and has a lid . Much smaller too and storeable . I even compared the readings and this was bang on with the monster a commercial lab uses . No complaints . Thankyou
