Likely a surplus product.
I believe this product is being sold at a discount because it's the last remaining parts from a the manufacturing process, also known as surplus. The box shows the 96-tipped dropper having a tray to use as a vessel for sucking up the liquid you want to spherize. But this does not come with the tray shown in product pictures or on the box. The bummer is, the tray is used to protect the 96 tips. As such, many of mine came cracked and broken. It was disappointing. I'm going to try to glue the broken ones shut, so they don't leak. The spoon looks cheap, but is actually handy for getting the spheres out. Using it definitely takes practice. Or at least, making a properly viscous liquid takes practice. When you buy this kit, you also need to buy your own alginate and calcium. I found a single syringe to be much much easier to drip tons of drops from because you need one free hand to stir the spheres with. I also found a simple syringe capable of making reverse-spherification spheres with, which allows for a much larger size. So yes, this can work if you get one that's not broken. But 96 at a time is more high throughput restaurant-work than a home chef would serve for friends or family. If you need this quantity, buy the real one.

Perfect for producing consistent-sized caviar pearls from flavored sauces, juices, or liquids with sodium alginate. ✅ Easy and Mess-Free Setup The kit includes everything you need to get started: Dropper grid (96 holes) Syringe and spoon Strainer tray Compact mold box Just place your prepared liquid into the syringe or spoon, pass it through the mold, and let the chemistry do the rest. ✅ Great for Culinary Creativity Whether you're adding balsamic “caviar” to a salad, fruit pearls to a dessert, or soy sauce drops to sushi, this kit opens up new possibilities for plating and texture. It’s especially fun for special occasions, dinner parties, or food presentation challenges. ✅ Durable and Easy to Clean The plastic components are sturdy and wash well with warm water. The grid and tray come apart easily for cleaning, and everything feels reusable and well-constructed for the price. ⚠️ A Few Things to Note: Not for Total Beginners Without Guidance – You’ll need to understand the basics of reverse or direct spherification and source ingredients like sodium alginate and calcium lactate, which aren’t included. WHAT A LET DOWN, not good
I'm a foodie and love to experiment in the kitchen, I had big hopes to play with the caviar maker. There were no instructions provided, very strong chemical smell and appeared to be a previously used product, It was then washed several times but the smell was still there.nI tossed it in the trash after a few days

Beyond disappointing
As a food writer and enthusiastic home chef, I know about molecular gastronomy and am excited about learning molecular cooking. My former lab rat husband can appreciate what it takes to delve into this area of haute cuisine, and we enjoy watching shows about the world famous chefs who have made it an art form. So, I was looking forward to putting this spherification kit to use and expand my culinary skills. However, the kit arrived unsealed, dirty, had what looks like a burn spot on the inside edge of the tray, and there was a dead bug in the syringe (the blurry object). Disgusting! Moreover, the specification spoon looks like it had been scraped, as it’s rough, and there were NO instructions, even though there were supposed to be some included. Therefore, I will have to clean and sanitize this kit, and get out guides I already have, before I can offer a good demo. Seriously disappointing! Origin: Spain

Molecular gastronomy
Oh my gosh, this device helps me make “caviar” so much more quickly and consistent. It’s been so much fun to play with molecular gastronomy and having tools like this is awesome. It makes a time consuming task go so much faster and the results are much better. I think this is such a handy tool at a great price point. It’s nice and solid, super easy to clean and not so big that it’s hard to store. I love it!
