Apiary: Expanding the Hive

I love the game! IMHO, The expansion doesn’t really add anything new to the game, but it does help balance it out. Yes, there are new boards and pieces, but it’s similar to before. Though the frames change a little (for the better, adding more variety) That said, if you like Apiary, it cleans things up a little, I’d recommend it.

The additional hives makes the base game way more replayable. This is a must have expansion.

Excellent expansion that adds a lot of energy and creativity to an already fabulous game

Apiary by itself is fantastic. This expansion adds and changes some of the cards, frames, and tiles to give even more replay value and a very slight balance adjustment. It's just that *chef's kiss* touch to an already great game.

This expansion doesn't add to the player count, but it greatly expands the replay value of the base game (which should be the main goal of an expansion anyway). If you play Apiary a lot like we do, you will want to add this expansion. It adds a ton of variety to the way you can play- I especially like the options on the new frames. HOWEVER, if you don't play Apiary a lot, you might not ever find a need for this. It was a no-brainer for us though.

Apiary: Expanding the Hive does exactly what you want out of an expansion. It adds more stuff to the game without adding a ton of new and overwhelming rules! The new frames with different bonuses are a fantastic change to the base game that just makes sense and they even made the rulebook for the new content an upgraded reference that covers all of the content from the base game and the expansion. I absolutely love this addition to Apiary.

If you like Apiary, there's really no reason not to buy this expansion! The new unique frames add some nice customization to the player's hive while the additional variety added through more tiles and mats is really nice. But it's also not too much or too expensive - the perfect kind of small expansion for an already great game.
