We used it as instructed and are still getting a lot of smoke.

Heavy iron, and once you get the fire going good, it truly is smokeless as the smoke rises up instead of out! Design is also cool and many guests to my fire pit have commented on how they like it! Setting it up was easy and I coated it in olive oil before the first and second use to season it. Having winters here, I also coated it in November in hopes to delay rusting and weathering.
