these are nice looking turning blanks. The 5 I got had some variance in grain patterns and color distribution, with 2 having a wavy pattern to the gain lines and more dark wood, one mostly light wood with few dark lines in it and the last two mostly straight grain with a good mix of fine dark lines to the lighter wood. As blanks sold without a specific grain pattern this was a good selection. As for measurements, well its raw wood so I'm happy if its reasonably close to the nominal size - that said my blanks were all within 0.5mm of 22mm or about 1/64" to 1/32" from 7/8". None were truly square with one side a bit under or over the other, but that is something easy to fix on a table saw, and quite normal for blanks that I've bought all over the place. I was happy to find blanks in the 7/8" size as many of my projects need a slightly bigger blank than the 3/4 size that is common, but don't need 1.5" that is often the next size you find. I've used three of these to make reel seats for fishing rods one fly rod and two size 17 spinning seats, one of the last two is going to become a shop pencil. at about $4 each shipped they are a reasonable price for an uncommonly found wood, and I'll likely be back for more.

A single blank had a crack running through it in my order. It was still usable I just had to turn it down a little thinner, I used that as the practice piece. Other than that the rest were amazing. The wood is so dense and heavy it will impress people with the weight of it. I made some little handles for tools in a musket cleaning kit as a present and the recipient loved them.

This wood surprised me! The thickness, and density of the wood is perfect. The blanks are longer than most, which is good! I didn’t think they were that figured until turning. Will be buying again!

I have never worked with ironwood these blanks look amazing. Can't wait to turn them.

I made pens out of these the grain almost looks like fire burning and flickering. i especially liked that all five were useable.

Item came quick but does not even come close to matching the picture. Blanks I received are almost black. Will not purchase again.
